29: A Stand Attack

I pointed the man out to Koichi and voiced my suspicions. He seemed sceptical but must've decided that I was telling the truth and the matter deserved further investigation.

He told Josuke and Okuyasu to meet them at the school because he had something he wanted to show us in private. The two nodded and set off, laughing about seemingly nothing.

I asked Koichi why he told them to leave and he told me it would be too suspicious to have five people following and that three was a lot easier to hide, especially considering how he could pass as our age if needed.

We followed the guy until the end of the street, where he turned and entered an abandoned building on a street corner.

"I guess we have no choice but to follow him." I said "But give him a while to get settled in. If we catch him as he is he can just run away."

"Good call"

We waited about five minutes and then entered the building. Nothing seemed out of the ordinary until we got to the third floor. Upon it was an entire home that had been set up, with a makeshift stove and bed as well as bits of ruined furniture people must have thrown out.

"Looks like some sort of den." I said "Is he homeless?"

"Maybe. Careful though, if that was blood you saw he may be dangerous."

I nodded and started examining the kitchen, if you could call it that. Koichi checked the other rooms and Ochaco checked the living space/bed.

I was about to open a drawer from an old-looking chest of them when I felt my feet leave the ground. I was thrust against the ceiling and crashed through it, surprising Koichi.

I heard a crack when I hit the second ceiling and then I was dropped. At the last second Ururaka caught me and put me on my feet. I looked up the hole I had made and Kiochi stared down.

"What was that?" I asked

Koichi smiled painfully.

"A stand ability. The user must be on the top floor."

I nodded.

"Koichi, take Ochaco and climb the stairs up there. I'll meet you."

"Okay but what are y-"

Star Platinum and I jumped up the hole and smashed through the ceiling I had been flattened against. I landed on the roof of our building.

There was nobody there. I searched everywhere but found nobody. Koichi and Ochaco arrived moments later to find me sitting cross-legged muttering.

"Did you find anything?" Asked Koichi

"No. He's not here."

"So it's not a close-range type then. Check the other roofs"

I scrambled to the edge of the building and used Star Platinum like binoculars. I saw nothing unusual until seeing the roof of Tonio's restaurant. The man was stood there. He saw me and was suddenly pulled away by some force.

"There! he just flew away from Tonio's." I shouted

"I see him. Me and Miss Ururaka can't get to him though. How good at controlling Star Platinum are you?"

"Very."

"Then you can chase him if you want. We'll need another way though."

"Right"

I used Star Platinum and jumped off the building, eyes still on the man. As I got closer I realised he was carrying a gun, probably stolen.

He looked back at me following him and saw the distance I was gaining. Then he started slowing down, probably because he realised that running wouldn't work.
