Happy New Month guys🤗❤

Monae's POV

It has been a year and half now since my adopted father found me, rescued me on the streets and brought me home to his family and a year and a couple and five months since we left Sin City to New York which was for the best, Las Vegas held so much bad memories that I had to get away from and forget forever.

I don't know how he did it in a short span of time but he adopted me legally a week after we came here and now I have the sole right to call him father, I called him that before the adoption because he truly deserves it for all what he did and has done for me.

He asked me after the adoption what I wanted to study in school and I immediately said culinary arts. I love to cook and bake, you know everything food.

I want to make a career out of it and become a chef. I had my high school education on it but didn't have the time and means to further it.

The bachelor's degree I'm studying for is a period of four years and I'm not even a year through, only six months.

Though I'm looking forward to getting that degree, I don't want to finish anytime soon. I love the renowned and A class school Mr Winchester enrolled me in.

Aside it being conducive for learning, it has accommodating and friendly students who don't look down on the color of my skin and I like the teachers too as well as the tuition.

He giving me that opportunity means a whole lot to me and I don't know how I'm ever going to repay him for everything he has done for me so far.

Aside helping me financially, sending me to school and giving me a home, he also gives me the fatherly love and protection I never had and for that I love and appreciate him very much.

Pulling up into the drive way of the house and not the garage because I'll be going out to shop for baking sheets and other stuffs I'll be needing for the baking of croissant tomorrow in class, I turned off the engine and took my bag from the passengers seat before going out of the car.

I took a look at the car, an ash 2019 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon. It was one of the many expensive things after living with my father.

It was a car he got for me two months after enrolling me in school and I remember what a huge argument it caused between him and my now mother (which she hates me calling her that by the way.)

Mrs Winchester didn't know why I needed a car when according to her I can take the bus to school and on a good day, pick a cab. She seized the keys from me, barring me from using it.

Little did she know the number of thirsty and dangerous man I had successfully evaded from assaulting me sexually and the pepper spray I've carried in my back anytime I went for class.

It took an angry Mr Winchester and a threats from him to report her to the police for thefts before handing it back.

It wasn't a bluff, he was pretty serious about it but we all knew he wasn't going to that, he brought his family here to change and not sink them deeper in their toxic life.

He meant well for them and so far, the reason why we came here has been fulfilled in the life of Rex. He has become a responsible even if it wasn't much, he now works with his father in the company's head quarters here. According to father, if he keeps up the good behaviour, he's going to send him to head the one in Sin City.

Rex also goes out though not habitually like back in Vegas.

Imogen is the only problem here. She's been in and out of Rehab ever since we came here due to her extensive and prolonged drug use. Days she successfully spends all the required weeks in rehab and comes home, Imogen becomes the sweet girl Roxie talked about and she even become a friendly to me, no insults or racist comments whatsoever.
