Monae's POV
Heidi and I stepped out of the car and I curiously looked around the unfamiliar tall building.
Everything happened so fast, I didn't have the time to ask what where we were going. All I was told was Michy wanted us to introduce us to some important clients of his who will be leaving the state tonight and as a result of that we had to cut short our lunch and rush here.
"What's this place?"
"The Ritz Carlton hotel, c'mon let's get going before we keep him waiting the more." She held my hand and dragged me inside, I could tell she was excited for a reason best known to her like c'mon, it's only a business dinner with his clients not some fancy vacay around the world.
We slowed down when we got stepped into the stylish hotel, with the help of Heidi we found our way into the restaurant filled with not so many people.
I spotted Michy with his back to us at a table and we approached them. That was when I recognized Drake and his wife and his other friends.
"Where are the clients?" I questioned no one in particular, suddenly annoyed I rushed all the way here because of a possible lie.
"We are." They chorused as if they had rehearsed it and looked at Michy, they're faces so stoic, one would think something bad is about to go down.
I glanced at them cautiously and sat down after Michy pulled a chair for me beside him.
For minutes no one at the table said anything, all eyes were on Michy who was shifting nervously in his chair. He would put his arm around my chair then pull it back, the next minute, his fingers are raking his hair and the others are also giving him a look as if to urge him on something.
"Can someone please tell me what is going on here? Why are y'all silent?" I questioned them.
Shawn looked between Drake and Marcus. "Should we tell her?"
"No, we can't."
"It will ruin every effort we put into this." Heidi replied before Drey could and I turned look at her, so she knew all along this was all a pretense?
"Moreover it's not in our place to do so."
"True that."
I hate it when people lie to me, so I turned to them. "Wait, can you guys, you know like stop talking among yourselves and reply me?" I replied with sass in my tone.
"C'mon Mich tell her." Marcus more like instructed him.
"Tell me what?" Though I asked Marcus the question, my eyes were on Michy who was avoiding eye contact.
"Uhm, uh there's actually something I need to tell you."
"Well then go ahead cause I'm all ears."
"This isn't easy for me but I'd do my best." He said back and cleared his throat. The jitters were so viable, I rubbed his thigh to calm him down before he took my hand in his and looked at me in the eyes. "Over the weekend, I realized something. I realized how beautiful it is to find that one true person you want to forever spend your life with. Someone you can call your own, someone you can share your good and bad times with. A soulmate who will be your sunshine even when they sky is so cloudy, that special person who you won't be afraid to risk your heart and life for. I wasn't searching for that someone because I already had her with me, beside me every single time. The only thing I needed was to realize how much I can't wait to make her mine forever and which is why, I'm here today asking you with a heart that hopes you'll undoubtedly say yes..." he trailed off and got on his knees, "I know this is too early in our relationship, it hasn't been six months since we started but I feel as if I've known for a lifetime. I love you more than my heart is capable of, everyday when I sleep and go to bed, through the day and night, all I see is you. You and you only and I can't wait to spend the rest of my life with the most humble and amazing woman who has colored my world without knowing with all her good qualities every man wishes for. I don't want to rush you into being tied in anything you aren't comfortable with so for starters as I want us to take our time, Monae Araba Winchester, will you please be my fiancée?"
