Monae's POV
My day want exactly shitty. It was contrary, Rex left for work, Imogen went out over to a friend's house and for Mrs Winchester, she had a spa day today with her rich friends and left too leaving Roxie and I to kinda bond.
We talked about many stuffs and got to know each other better. Roxie is a retired nurse turned house help and nanny who has worked for the Winchester family for twenty five years.
She told me she knows all the members like the back of her hand. Mrs Winchester is your regular snobby rich wife who looks down on the poor.
Her children have been pampered and lack moral values, doing whatever they please and their father Mr Winchester comes to their rescue if they get themselves into trouble.
She said Rex is a certified pervert and play boy though he's smart and easy going. Roxie cautioned me stay away from him. Don't waste your energy Roxie, I've already decided to stay clear of him. I'm allergic to perverts like him and I have no intention whatsoever of being friendly with him.
Moving to Imogen, I was told she just like her brother is a graduate from New York State University who majored in theater acts. She plans on going into acting soon with the help of her father's connection. Though with her achievements, her father is greatly worried about her.
Her friend circle isn't one a parent would encourage their child to be part of. Typical rich kids who fancy living off their parents money, vacationing in Dubai, Greece, Indonesia and Italy rather than working their ass off to get their own money.
Roxie told me in a whisper, she has caught Imogen doing drugs and giving freely her pride to a snobby rich boy in his car a couple of times.
Damn here I thought this rich kid is so graceful in her mannerisms but clearly she's ratchet, too bad. We wrapped up our chit chat and got back to cooking the family's dinner. I had so much fun helping her cook and being useful despite her numerous turn down offers.
Roxie finished her cooking and went into her room to take her bath. I was left alone and went back to my room not knowing what to do. I remembered I had to call Daisy and Raina.
Daisy's number wasn't reachable after several attempts. Raina picked up on the first ring. "Hey Monae, where have you been? Been trying to reach you."
"Hi, I'm good just a little busy."
"It's great news you've found a new job." Oh so she's found out, I bet those sleazy girls are going to spread their lies hoping the others will buy it. Most of them would expect Raina and David, the only sane workers there.
For now imma let her believe I've found a new job. I don't want her stressing her butt worrying about me. "Yeah."
"Daisy also told me you've been evicted from the apartment when I passed by, are you okay? Do you want to crash at mine till you get a new place?" Typical Raina, caring and stressing about other people's problems though hers isn't the nicest. I'm glad I found a friendship in her the time I was there which is going to last a lifetime.
"Oh no don't worry, I'm cool." I can't overburden her with my problems and I have a place to stay for now.
"You sure? Got a new crib already?"
"Kinda, I'll tell you later. For now I gotta go." I hanged up not wanting to go further. I know she cares but I just can't tell her I live in a place like this when my fate hasn't been decided yet.
Though it hasn't been decided, I have a feeling they are going to allow me stay here.
I went downstairs, sitting at the kitchen waiting for Roxie to arrive. She said something about we dining before the family. I'm damn hungry, I can eat a whole cow.
It's no exaggeration, I can't contain sugar in my body for long. Anytime I eat a sugary breakfast, I tend to be more hungrier than I normally am and if I don't get to eat in time, I start to lose control and become weak.
There's only the breakfast in my stomach since morning. Roxie and I were so caught up in our conversation, we didn't notice it was past noon and was getting to dusk.
Speaking of Roxie, she entered into the kitchen in fresh new clothes and smelt like she just got out of the shower. "Hungry much?"
"It's an understatement Rox." Yeah we're now that friendly to refer to her by that. She's way older than me but didn't mind me calling her that.
She told me it makes her feel a lot younger and makes her reminisce her youthful days, adorable and the apple of everyone's eye. Men fell at her feet, unfortunately for her, the very person she gave her heart to trampled upon it leaving her shattered and unmarried till now.
Stories like hers, scare me from getting into any sort of relationship. I don't trust those opposite sex creatures. In my eyes they're all the same, deceitful liars who only sing the tune to one thing, getting laid and wrecking hearts.
I have never been in a relationship before, I don't know the thought of it scares me but I do have a crush.
It's a silly crush, I have no idea who the guy is. I met him once and our encounter wasn't the least friendly. Let's just say we met under tense circumstances and left on a happy note.
I was nearly killed by his car the day we met. I remember being so sad after my former boss sexually harassed me for the first time.
Work was over when it happened. I cried and cried I kinda lost my way. The honking of a car brought me to reality that was when I realised I was in the middle of a street with a car closer to me and ready to hit me any minute.
He was very mad and we ended up exchanging hot verbal words and after that we went to a coffee shop nearby and treated ourselves to a cup of steaming hot coffee to release the tension that was between us.
I was mad at first but I later warmed up to him. Our fingers brushed on different occasions and they always brought tingling sensations to me.
We left and our paths have never crossed till today and I don't even know his name. I've been thinking about him since that day and concluded he wasn't the person for me, the tingling sensations were all because he was the first man that didn't ogle and lust over me and I was only getting silly ideas in my head.
"Monae?" Roxi called me, waving her hand in front of me.
"Yeah Rox."
"Are you listening to me?"
"Kinda what did you say again?"
"I was asking if you weren't hungry anymore since you haven't touched your food."
"I'm hungry, I just zoned out a bit." I smiled shyly at her, picking up my fork and digging into the food before brushing the thought of my silly crush on the unknown man away.
