Michy's POV
"It will be extremely difficult getting it approved by the judge since no prenup was signed."
I sighed, rubbing my hands through my hair as I was getting worked up, this is going to be one long and nasty divorce I must say.
Who knew getting divorce and cutting ties completely was this difficult? Before this, all I thought was needed during divorce was both parties signing the petition and then they move.
"Boris, is there absolutely nothing we can do about this?" Pacing about the hallway with my hand placed akimbo, I tried again. "You know, maybe a way we can avoid the asset split, can't we use her infidelity as an excuse?"
Reasoning with him again was useless, he has said everything he has to say yet I wasn't going to give up that easily.
Rather, I'm going to go out of my way to make sure she gets nothing. There's no way in hell I'm I going to let that bitch walk away from the marriage with 50 percent share of the family asset.
A family she had no respect for, a family who for her selfish interest murdered brutally, how then can she claim their wealth?
The deep breath at the end of the line and the silence that ensued afterwards told me everything that I needed to know. After minutes of silence, Boris Lovelace, our gang lawyer whom I had contacted concerning Shawn's divorce, spoke up.
"As I said earlier, I'm sorry. There's absolutely nothing that can be done to prevent the woman from getting a share of the assets. Gone are those days that infidelity and adultery was a basis for divorce," I blocked out the rest of his words feeling hopeless more than ever.
How was I going to tell Shawn his soon to be ex wife who cheated on him for so many years was going to get that which she married him for?
The poor guy is going to get angrier than he is after finding out about Elyse's true face. As if being heartbroken and drinking to stupor wasn't enough to send him to an early grave, the thought of Elyse getting his money was worse.
"Hello? Are you still there?"
I blinked and nodded then breathed out a yeah, "sorry I got carried a way a bit, were you saying something?"
"Actually yes, I just remembered something that can perhaps influence the property sharing if the divorce pulls through—"
"What is it?"
"I'm not sure how greatly it can—"
"It doesn't matter as long as it is something that is of help, so please go ahead."
"Very well then, if perhaps Shawn can prove Elyse cheated on him with his money then the judge will surely consider it when making the decision at the end of the day. Does he have solid evidence?"
Does he? I asked myself and thought back to the conversations I had with him, trying to remember if he ever made mention of having proof, a video maybe. But nothing clicked.
"He might have evidence which I'm not aware of so let's do this," hearing footsteps approaching where I stood, I turned back to see who it was but there was no one so I continued with what I was saying. "I'll ask him about it and give you the feedback, we will take it from there afterwards."
"Yeah sure, do ask him about it and let me know."
"Of course I will, thank you."
"I'm your lawyer after all so it's my job. If there's nothing else, I'll hang up now, I was in a meeting with a client when you called. Some of us need to secure the bag even on the weekends you know."
