Monae's POV

I groaned and tossed in bed as my ringtone came off. Who can it be disturbing my sleep this early? I gave up trying to sleep and sat on the bed, searching for my phone. There are missed calls from Daisy and texts too from Raina, another co waiter who's a lot friendlier than the others.

The time on my phone is 6:40 am. I quickly leapt off the bed and sprinted to the bathroom. I took my shower in record time of five minutes and got out, changing into a jeans and a tee.

I'm new here and I don't want to give my benefactor the impression I'm lazy so I got out of  the room with swift steps, retracing the steps we took the night before and went into the living room.

There wasn't a single soul in sight. After much difficulty, I found my way into the kitchen. Bacon and eggs hitting my nose instantly. I can very well hear my stomach growling. I had to tightly clutch my stomach as if it would help the noise from not sounding.

A woman was filling plates with the bacon and eggs. She turned around to face me, her expression was confusion before it turned into a smile. "Good morning young lady."

"Good morning madam." I awkwardly said not knowing if I should introduce myself or I should just shut up.

"I'm sorry but who're you?" Her tone wasn't rude, it was that of curiosity.

"I'm-" I was cut off by another voice.

"She's a girl I found sitting alone at night in a dangerous neighborhood." The man from yesterday said to the lady, coming into the kitchen.

"What's your name my dear?" They asked in unison.

"Monae Araba Daniels."

"Monae, I'll be back to introduce you to the rest of the family." He patted my shoulder, "Roxie give her breakfast will you? I don't think she has any food last night, did you?"

I shook my head and remembered it's impolite, "no sir."

"Don't worry she will serve you breakfast, I'll be back with the rest before you finish." With that he left leaving me in the company of Roxie.

She served me the bacon and eggs with a mug of hot tea and sat opposite me staring at me curiously. I get the impression she wants to know more but doesn't know how. "I'm sorry if I'm nosy but where did he find you?"

"On a street I don't remember ma'am." I told her chewing on a bacon, it tastes so good. Its like the best bacon I've ever eaten in my whole life.

"Why on a street? Don't you have a family?"

"Uhm no." I shook my head sadly. Hurt flashed in her eyes as she took in my sad face. She has opened a deep wound, I wish I can cure leaving no scar.

"I'm so sorry my dear, stupid me gets so inquisitive and I ask personal questions, I'm so sorry." She slapped her head and fidgeted.

"I'm cool don't worry." I know I wasn't but I'm not going to show this stranger my weakness and break down in front of her. Our conversation was cut short with the entrance of people.

I raised my gaze, looking at them. They're the people I saw in the frames decorating the living room and hallway. The elderly lady wasn't too pleased to see me judging from her facial expression, it was bland and her nose hung in the air in a snobbish way she stared down at me. The young man beside her, looked at me assessing me and so did the young lady beside her.

The man cleared his throat and his family removed their gaze from me. "This is Monae, the girl I told you about. Monae this is my lovely wife," she forced me a smile. "That's my son, Rex Winchester and my daughter Imogen Winchester." They smile at me too and took their seats. "Family this is Monae, I expect you all to treat her like a family."

Alex smirked at me, his eyes spelled trouble. He nodded at his father, "what's her fate now?"

Yeah good question Rex, what's my fate now?

"I'll have a talk with her and decide afterwards for now, I'm going to the office. Hurry and get there in an hour." He said in a stern voice to his son and patted my head one more time before going out of the kitchen.

Mrs Winchester looked at me closely, eyeing me. Roxie served her plate of breakfast which she slowly dug into her. Rex ate like a pig, I'm sorry to say. He's behaving like he hasn't eaten in a long time which I doubt, they're rich asf, he can't starve.

Imogen here I'm sure is a beauty queen she sat gracefully, eating her food, paying no attention to me. It's like I don't even exist in her world, she hasn't said a single word to me and I'm fine with it.

"What's your name?" Mrs Winchester's voice broke my thoughts as she sipped her tea.

"Monae Araba Daniels ma'am."

"Where's your family?" She placed her fork down looking at me head to toe.

I felt uneasy under her gaze. It's so obvious she doesn't like me even though I've been here for less than 24 hours. "I don't have one, ma'am." This time I didn't put on a sad face, I know I'll be saying more of it now I'm here.

"Everyone has a family unless you've been disowned." She said looking at with a raised brow.

"I used to, they're all dead."

"I'm sorry for your loss." She said with no emotions. Her voice was devoided of sympathy a big contrast to her words, I don't really know her but I'm not surprised either given her cold attitude.

"Don't worry ma'am." Don't worry I know you don't care.

She nodded at me, turning her attention to Roxie, "have you fed her?"

"Yes ma'am, a while ago."

"You should feed her more, she looks like she needs all the food she can get." Her tone was taunting, Very taunting and it hurts.

Rex snickered in his seat and Imogen chuckled. I sat almost breaking into tears. These people are making mockery of me right in my presence. I may be poor but I'm human, I deserve a little respect and not this insult.

I refused to let them think they've gotten to me. I smiled and got off the seat to take their plates. I can only be useful if I help and I'm not afraid of hard work.

"Damn." I heard Rex mutter. He was raking my body with his eyes, lust filling them as he licked his lips.

Idiot, all men are the same. They can't turn a blind eye to a thick and curvy body like mine. I don't know how those creatures were created. I caught Imogen staring at me with jealousy gleaming in her eyes. Rich skinny girl wants a body like mine.

Her mother looked like she wants to swallow her words from earlier. It's her daughter who needs all the food she can get to gain a body like mine. She scowled, watching me intently as I did the dishes.

I wiped my hands when I was done. "Go and change your clothes, Monae." Mrs Winchester ordered me in a stern voice.  She doesn't look too pleased with how her son was staring at me.

"Okay ma'am." I obediently run back to my room and changed into a baggy tee top dress. It's what I mostly wear to hide this body, I unintentionally tempt men with. It's a headache to me, I've been asking God why He gave me a problematic body that causes unnecessary attention and temptation.

I would have blamed myself I were to wear skimpy clothes but I don't. All my clothes save for my jeans and tops are all baggy and less stylish yet when I wear them, I get lustful stares from and young men alike. It's so frustrating and annoying sometimes, I wanna strangle them or pluck their eyes out and feed them to the birds of the sky. Forgive me Lord, I shouldn't be entertaining thoughts like these.

Sighing I sent a quick text to Daisy telling her I'm fine.
