I think I've seen this place before
somewhere you wouldn't suspect
It's a bit hard to describe
but just imagine all the stars aligning
in the dead of night
as you lay down on the wet grass
in an abandoned lot near the train tracks
of your neighborhood
And in the distance you might notice
some far-off distant planet with rings
much larger than Saturn and a surface
that appears to be coated by many colors
and near it is an asteroid belt that stretches
far below the ground
and just along the horizon is about
a million constellations that you have
never seen before crossing past
streets and highways which lay underneath
a billion more stars
You're surrounded by tiny galaxies
with stars and planets of their own
ones which you might have learned
from by reading texts
and others which remain nameless
but your eyes move too quickly
you aren't aware that the universe
seems to span all across this city
for soon you'll be awake
and realize that it was only a
momentary dream
You can't recall the exact meaning
behind the reason why you've dreamt
such an abstract dream
and it appears that the dream has not
subsided from your physical memory
or at least not entirely
Perhaps you've been there
in a previous life
as you gazed up at the starlit
night imagining of going
up in a rocket and shooting up
into the cosmos
like a comet faster than the
speed of light
traveling to the farthest reaches
of the universe that you had
once hoped to see
as you stood there on your patio
on a hot summer night
But there was something so
peculiar about it all
I wish that I could paint it for you
on a canvas that you can hang upon your wall
maybe then you might believe me
when I say that dreams
are much more meaningful
than the all the physical lives we've lived
