I don't know what got in me. I really don't. My legs feel like they had their own mind that they moved on their own.
I walked directly towards him without saying any word nor uttering a single sound. He was looking at me while I was coming closer to him. Written in his face was nothing. He wore his usual emotionless face.
I stood beside him not too close and not too far. He looks too boring sitting all alone at one corner.
"Back at the loner mode?" I smiled while fixing my gaze at the other pillars.
"Don't start." He sighed before breathing in.
We must look like big idiots right now without our haori. Now that I've thought about it, both he and I were at fault. If he wasn't irritating I wouldn't have taken his haori from him and there would be no fight.
"Tomioka." I called out while looking at the other pillars.
He didn't say anything, but I knew he was listening. He waited for the next thing I was going to add.
I took one deep breath first before lowering my damn pride.
"I'm sorry." I pursed my lips.
After that, there was nothing but silence building a wall that stands in between us.
He was quiet. I became quiet. He didn't respond after hearing my apology.
He's probably thinking about how high my pride was that I took things too far. If only I became more sensitive then things wouldn't have gone this bad.
"I'm also sorry." He said before I felt him stand up.
All I could do was nod. It's not like I don't like to talk. It's just that I can't find the right words to say. I don't know why his presence makes me forget words I want to say.
My ears started heating up as my hands started sweating. There's no way I'll have these feelings!
I cleared my throat before speaking.
"U-Uh... shall we join the rest?" I pointed the other pillars who were still busy before looking at him.
My breath hitched when I had locked my gaze with him. He was already staring at me before I even looked at him.
"I'm good." He shook his head before leaning on the wall.
"O-Okay." I pursed my lips again before sprinting towards the crowd. I just hope he didn't notice how I stuttered everytime I spit words.
Catching him stealing looks at me is causing one of the most unexplaineable feeling. I'm not used to these things!
As soon as I reached them, Kanao immediately smiled at me. She flashed an assuring smile, letting me know that she's ready for the selection.
I'm glad I have an attention diversion. I sighed before letting those thoughts drift off of my mind. I should stop thinking of him.
In the middle of deep thoughts, I slightly jumped when I felt an arm around my shoulder.
I turned to look at the person who did such thing.
"I saw what you did there." She whispered before giggling. She was blushing and of course was feeling giddy.
My eyes widened. If Mitsuri saw us, then the others might have also. I mentally face palmed and hoped that nobody else noticed us.
"Are you gonna admit that you like him?"
"Not yet."
"Yet?!" She exclaimed before jumping. That's when I realized what kind of answer I gave her.
"No, that's not it!" I tried to stop her from rejoicing, but she won't listen to any of my excuses.
"I thought you started loathing each other the fight. Turns out that your fight just made you closer to each other." She gave me a teasing smile before letting go of my shoulders.
I just gave her a blank face to show that I don't really have an interest in Tomioka Giyu. I don't know if she got it, most probably not.
She smiled at me once again before looking at the corner of the room, "Look how cool your boyfriend is." She clasped her hands and started blushing again.
I followed where her gaze was focused and when I did, I caught Tomioka looking at me again. I noticed him widen his eyes slightly before shifting his gaze elsewhere.
I also almost immediately turned my attention back at Mitsuri who gave me a meaningful look.
"You like him." She stated it. "Say it."
I shook my head before walking past her. I don't want to continue that kind of conversation with her. I started to get anxious that maybe she'll reveal everything I'm denying just by looking straight at my eyes.
I walked towards Genya and Kanao. They both bowed at me before standing straight. They were ready, indeed, for the Final Selection. I shared what I learned while I was in their situation before and tried sharing some techniques I used before.
The time ran quickly that they both had to leave already. They bowed and thanked all of us first before stepping out of the very estate. We were all there when they left.
"I hope they make it." Obanai lazily said.
"They will. They both wield their blades flamboyantly." Tengen added while looking at the door where the young ones exited.
"Be home, Kanao." I whispered to myself before I decided heading to my bedroom again.
As soon as I stepped on the hallways, my crow went flying towards me. It delivered a message from Oyakata-sama saying the headquarters are now opened and the pillars are already allowed to go there.
I sighed before opening my bedroom door and shutting it behind me.
