'What was I thinking?' Her lips parted open as she clutched her blanket again. Her heart still won't calm down, affecting her actions. Her cheeks were already pink, too.
Shinobu knew she was off these days as in she was becoming more sensitive. Anything and everything Giyu does affects her in many ways that even she couldn't count.
She can't even remember the last time she scored and sarcastically talked back to him.
Knowing him, he wouldn't start a conversation again and so she decided to speak.
"You've become more talkative day by day don't you think, Tomioka-san?" Shinobu flashed him a smile, "Quite unusual."
"All thanks to you." Giyu sighed and sat on the edge of the bed again. This time, he was facing her fully, "Drop the formalities."
"What?" She dumbfoundedly tilted her head.
"Please call me by my name." He stared at her intently.
"I don't want to." Shinobu unconsciously shook her head while looking at him, surprised at the sudden request.
Hearing that response, Giyu leaned closer and plopped his elbow on his thighs before resting his chin on his palm.
"Then let me, at least, call you Shinobu." He locked gazes with her.
"But–"
"Do you prefer nicknames?"
With that being said, the last strand of composure left in the Insect Pillar snapped.
She covered her face with both hands and lowered her head. Butterflies started fluttering in her stomach as she started having the urge to get closer to him.
She started wanting to be beside him more than anything.
Coming back, she loved how her name sounded different when he said it; it sounded better than when anyone else calls her.
"You..." Shinobu mumbled, still hiding fer face, "You're confusing me."
"Then," He brought his hand to her hair and stroked it, admiring her highlights before he asked, "What should I do to make things clear?"
Under both hands, Shinobu shut her eyes closed and bit her lips. She knew she has to face this. This is what she wanted — the final confirmation and assurance.
She wanted to know if he's going to go on or if what happened these past days were pure jokes. She wanted to know if she'll still follow her heart or stop.
She wanted to know of his feelings directly.
Shinobu took one deep breath before she sat straight and dauntlessly faced him. Giyu connected gazes with her and tried reading her.
"What do you think of me?" She held her breath and hoped her heartbeat wasn't as loud to him as it was to hers. She was afraid he'd hear it.
The latter kept his mouth closed as he clenched his jaw. He remained calm and serene as always while secretly admiring how she looked right now.
