Millions of thoughts came in my mind after hearing Tomioka's question. What is he trying to say?
What does he have in mind?
It's the first time he gave me a hint that he's interested with me.
Wait, no. Interest is not the right word.
He was curious, not interested.
Come think of it, only my sister has an interest in that sort of thing.
Kocho Kanae. The woman who loved the Wind pillar with all her heart.
Am I weird if I don't like someone? A guy perhaps?
Let me think.
Do I like someone? Aside from my sister and Kanao?
I shrugged all the thoughts away 'cause I don't think that that's necessary. Love could only hurt you, tear your heart into million of pieces. People come and go.
"I didn't know you were into stuff like love." I teased him, trying to open up a new topic. This is interesting.
"You don't get it." He kinda whispered, but was still audible for me to hear.
I pulled the blanket away. "Reveal yourself, Loner!"
He looked at me with disbelief.
"My my, I think Tomioka-san likes someone who doesn't like him back." I covered my mouth, pretending that I was talking to myself.
He was obviously irritated, but still remained silent.
"Did I hit bull's eye again, Tomioka-san?" I giggled, but there was still no response coming from him. "I guess I did." I smiled to myself.
I grinned when I thought of a question to ask.
"Who is this unfortunate girl?"
"I need peace, Kocho." He looked at me straight at the eyes.
"No peace." I poked his arms. "Tomioka. Tomioka. Tomioka." I called him continuously, doing my best to annoy him.
He groaned in response.
"You know what? When we were still kids, I was never a loner like you." I pointed out. His reaction was really something.
I'd always have my sister or Sanemi with me when I was little. They'd always train and bond with me almost every time.
I smiled at him and clasped both of my hands together. He was probably killing me in his mind already.
"You know, Kocho, when I was your height-" He started to speak.
I immediately covered his face with a pillow. He didn't budge when I did so. Probably because he was also sleepy.
"Shush." I forced a smile, though he can't see me.
I decided to give him a break. I'm not that rude to disturb someone who wants to sleep.
"I'll get going." I stood up as I was about to sprint away.
However, there was something that really, really caught my attention.
The mismatched haori on the floor.
I smiled to myself before picking it up and sprinting away. Lots of ideas came crashing in my mind.
Shall I turn this into a new door mat?
I shut the treatment area's door behind me.
Walking along the hallways, I came in face to face with the Shinazugawas.
If I could recall, Sanemi went out again to find his 'lost' brother.
"Kocho-sama." Genya immediately bowed as soon as he saw me while Sanemi remained standing. This kid really knows how to respect people.
"Geez, bro. You don't need to do that. That's just Shinobu." Sanemi let his brother stand up straight. On the other hand, here we have the older brother who doesn't seem to care about the people around him.
"If my onee-san was here, you would've already bowed at me." I muttered.
"Sayin' something?" Sanemi looked at me, while smiling.
"Nandemonai." I smiled back at him. "Looks like you found him." I blinked several times at Sanemi before looking back at Genya.
"Obviously, I did." Sanemi was proud at the moment. He really doesn't run out of arrogance. "Turns out he was petting some stray puppies at the road, forgetting that we were supposed to get here immediately." He ruffled his brother's hair.
"Did you enjoy?" I shifted my gaze at Genya who nodded in response. "That's nice."
"That's lame." His older brother said.
"Sanemi!" I glared at him. Genya just looked down.
"Hey, Kocho." Sanemi called me, not minding what Genya felt.
"Hai?" I tilted my head.
Sanemi and Genya's gaze was somewhere directed to me.
"Is there a problem?" I asked both of them.
"Why are you holding that?" Sanemi pointed at the haori that was in my right hand. "Isn't that the water pillar's?"
I looked at the direction where he pointed.
"Yes, it is and it's none of your business." I smiled sweetly and made my way between the both of them.
Thankfully, my bedroom was already near. Just a few more steps.
I was too carried away by the small chit-chat we had that I almost forgot that Tomioka's haori was in my possession.
I sighed as I entered my bedroom.
"Hello, Kocho!" A sweet voice greeted as soon as I shut the door.
My eyes widened.
Mitsuri's here!
I immediately placed both of my hands behind me to hide the haori that I was holding.
