When you have to question
The "welcome-home-kiss;"
When you have to wonder
If there's little signs missed;
When you have to think
About the years of happiness
And then you remember
All the angry, sad, patchiness;
Is that when you know
That it was all for a show?
Just to bind you all together,
An empty promise of forever?
Is that when you can safely assume
That your future is certainly doomed?
And that there's no happily ever after,
Again, the empty promise of forever?
When do you know
The difference between sadness and sorrow?
When can you assume
All it was was buttons: play, pause, resume?
When can you think
Safely, and surely, that they'll stay a link?
And when does that happily ever after
Become an empty promise of forever?
