In the middle of the night you could hear loud bangs on your door, frightened, you didn't know what to do so you took a knife from the kitchen to protect yourself as you hesitantly moved closer to open them. Through a peephole you could see a mans silhouette, absolutely wet, standing in the pouring rain. The banging continued and you could hear a loud „FUCK" from the exhausted voice coming from the other side. You thought it sounded familiar so you opened the door now holding the knife in both hands like it was a hatchet. The blue eyes glistened underneath the dim street lights as they looked at you. Tommy. You lowered your knife, but Tommy headed towards you, looking absolutely furious. He pinned you on the wall, holding your arms and got in your face.
„This is what you call payback, eh? Did Sarah tell you?" his deep raspy voice almost whispering those words in a threatening tone. You just looked at him confused and scared for your life as he looked like he could kill you.
„Tommy, what are you talking about?" you whispered scared to look him in the eye.
„ THE GUNS (Y/N)! THE FUCKING GUNS" he now shouted still looking you deep in the eyes but letting go of your hands and backing up from you. You didn't know what to respond as you knew nothing about no guns so he continued: „Sarah knew about them, Arthur told her so I'm guessing she told you too. Do you know what you did? Do you have any idea what you just did?" he said calmly but you could see the rage in his eyes.
„WHAT FUCKING GUNS TOMMY?!" you had it with the accusations coming from this clearly delusional man, and you continued by coming closer to his face, bringing his glare to you by lifting his chin up: „What guns Tommy? I swear to God I don't know anything." Your voice now sweeter and calmer, your eyes trying to show him you are innocent. He just shook you off himself and vanished through the door. You stood there completely baffled at what just happened and relieved you are still alive. He was properly furious and you needed to know what was going on, so you tried to sleep it off even though sleep escaped you tonight. In the morning you went to your sister's to try and see what was happening.
Your sister could clearly see you haven't slept, with your eyebags darker than ever and exhaustion on your face. She knew something must have happened.
„(Y/N)? You look absolutely terrible." She said through a laugh hoping I would too, but her face turned serious as she saw me keep a straight face.
„What guns Sarah? Why did Tommy think I knew anything? Why did he come banging on my door in the middle of the night?" you inquired her.
„I didn't tell you anything because Arthur told me not to, and it was best you weren't involved if you didn't have to be. Tommy ordered a robbery a while back, but it went wrong and they stole some guns they shouldn't have. Now the police have them and he could face charges or hang." Sarah told me everything. He must have thought I would tell on the hiding place being bitter about John getting married. Suddenly I felt sorry for him. To carry such a burden at all times must have been hard and me being me didn't make it any less hard. But if I didn't tell, Sarah didn't tell, who did?
„We don't know but whoever it is, he's a dead man." Sarah concluded.

You tried to wrap your head around who could've known about it, since Tommy wasn't a big talker after all. You went to the Garrison, only to find Grace wasn't working, even though she always does this time of the day. Strange. You ordered a drink and contemplated who it could be, hoping it was Grace to have her out of Tommy's life. You knew it was bad to think like that because you and Tommy would never work out, but you knew he didn't need fake people around him, and she definitely seemed off.

Later that evening you found out it was in fact Grace who was working undercover and gave the location of the hidden guns to chief inspector Campbell who she was working with. You felt as if you needed to go see Tommy and make sure he was okay, since you know he did love Grace. Even if he never said it, his eyes spoke for him. And you at least wanted to see him, as it may be the last time you do. You quickly put on a silky deep blue dress and headed to his house. Seeing the door was open you went in and slowly up the stairs.
„Hello? Tommy? The door was open." You said, now coming to the top of the stairs. You saw a man sitting on the edge of his bed, he just turned around for a second to see you and again turned his gaze out the window. It was still raining and the sound of rain calmed you as it hit the window, and Tommy seemed really focused on the drops as well.
„Oh Tommy..." you said as you sat beside him on the bed. You turned his head to look at his now almost tear filled eyes. „I'm so sorry for what happened. I know you love her." He slightly flinched at the fact he did love her but stared at your eyes trying to say something, not finding the words.
„I'm sorry (Y/N). I should have known it wouldn't be you. And after all that, you're still here beside me. I'm sorry." He stated with a defeated voice. You froze surprised at the words coming from Thomas Shelby. His hands were now around your waist, awkwardly giving you a hug, and his head on your chest. His touch felt divine. Your heart started racing to which he also gave notice by lifting his head for a second to look at you. You could feel his strong hands tighten around you and it made you try and control your breath. To distract yourself, you started playing with his hair, giving him gentle head scratches and observing the scars he had on his back, counting and lightly touching them.
„Some are from France. Well, most are." Tommy said softly with his head still buried in your chest as he noticed what you were doing. You flinched at the sound of his voice, caught in the act, but didn't say anything so he continued: „She made me forget. She made me safe and sane again."
You felt devastated at the sight of the broken man in your arms.
„The scars you have should only remind you that you lived. And you will live through this too." You said, trying to comfort him that not all is lost. He hadn't said anything and you two just sat there hugged in silence, listening to the rain falling.
