Calum's POV
After we get done eating, I put on a movie. I look over at Carly and see that she's cold.
"Do you want me to get you a blanket?" I ask. She looks at me and smiles.
"No, I'm okay."
"Are you sure because it's not a big deal."
"Why don't you move closer to me? It'll warm me up just as well as I blanket would." I smile and move closer to her. I wrap my arms around her body and we fall asleep like that.
My eyes open and I see that I'm holding Carly. I slowly move my body away from hers and look at the time. It's around six in the morning which means that I have about two hours to get ready. I walk into my room and see Carly's stuff sitting on my bed. I then hear her phone ring so I grab it to see who's calling. I see that she has a bunch of missed calls from Michael and about a hundred text from him too. I quickly run down the stairs to see that Carly's now awake. "Morning." She says with a smile. I rush over to her and hand her phone to her.
"I think he might remember." I say as she takes it out of my hand. She answers the phone and gets up. She walks outside and i wait for her to come back. When she finally does, her faces says it all. He still can't remember her, but why would he be calling her? "What was all that about?" I ask.
"The first few calls were him trying to tell me that some more of my stuff is still at his house, then Rose was mad, then they broke up, and he just called to apologize and say that they're back together. I knew it was too good to be true."
"Cary, I'm so sorry I never-"
"I'm going to get ready." She brushes past me and walks up the stairs. I feel like such an idiot right now, but how was I supposed to know? About ten minutes later, she comes down the stairs dressed and read to leave. I go up to my room and start getting ready and come back down to see that she's sitting on the couch on her phone.
"You ready?" I ask. She looks up, nods her head, stands up, and grabs her bag. We walk out the door and I live close enough to the school that I can just walk. When we get there, we both see Homecoming posters plastered all over the halls. I can see that it's making Carly upset, but there isn't really much I can do. I drop her off at her first class that she has with Luke and I walk to mine that I have with Ashton. I take a seat next to him and begin talking to him. "I think I want to ask Carly to the homecoming dance." He gives me a shocked look.
"Are you kidding? That's her and Michael's night. There's no way she's even going if he still can't remember her."
"Maybe she wants to."
"I've heard some things Cal. Don't get your hopes up too high because the last thing we need right now is for you to get hurt."
"Ash, I'll-" I'm cut of by the sound of the bell ringing. As class goes on, all I find myself thinking about is Carly. All I can think about is my arms wrapped around her waist as we dance and us feeling like we're the only people on the planet, but I know that's never going to happen. I know that she'll always be in love with Michael, even when he doesn't love her back. After my class is over, I meet up with Carly and she looks really happy and I don't know why. "What happened in your last class to make you this happy?"
"Luke asked me to the homecoming dance." I stop dead in my tracks. She continues to walk until she notices I'm no longer walking beside her. She turns around and walks back over to me. "Cal, what's-"
"Luke asked you to homecoming and you said yes."
"I wasn't planning on going until he asked me. Look Cal, I know that you have feeling for me, but-"
"You don't feel the same way. You know what? I want your stuff out of my house by the end of the day." I brush past her, but she grabs my arm.
"You never asked me. I was waiting for you to ask and you never did. He happened to get to me before you did. If you ask, I'll call it off with Luke because you're the one that I want to go with."
"Is that true?"
"Of course it's true Calum or I wouldn't have said anything. I would have let you walk away."
"Well in that case, will you go to Homecoming with me?"
"Of course I will. I need to get to class, but we can talk after."
"Okay." She smiles and walks away. It didn't go the way I thought it was going to, but I am so damn happy right now.
