Couldn't tell what would happen next

Calum's POV

I don't know what happened. It felt like my whole body was about to explode with rage. I never intended to hit Michael, but when I saw him, all I felt was anger. I'm now in the car with Carly on the way back to her house and we're sat in complete silence. Not a word has been said between us since I punched Michael. I think I might have scared her, but I'm not sure. When I pull into the driveway, she quickly gets out of the car. I follow her into the house and she turns and faces me.

"You lied to me. You said that you were fine when clearly you aren't."

"You cheated on and you're blaming me for being mad?"

"No I just-"

"I don't know what happened back there. I thought I was going to be okay and that I could let it go, but I can't. He said that he felt something Car. He told that to Rose's face and mine too. I need you to tell me if you felt anything."

"I didn't."

"Why can't I believe that you're telling the truth?"

"I don't know, but I am. What happened last night was a total mistake that I wish I could take back, but I can't. Calum, you're the one I want." Her eyes start to tear up, making it a thousand times harder to say what I'm about to say.

"I think that you and I need a break."

"Calum-" She chokes out.

"I think that I need a break. I need a break from you and I need a break from us." Her tears are now falling fast down her face.

"Calum please."

"Something clearly isn't working Carly or you wouldn't have slept with him. I'm not sure if it's me or if it's you, but I think we just need time to figure that out."

"Please don't go."

"I'm sorry, I have to. It's for the sake of us."

"If you walk out, then then there's not going to be an us."

"Then I guess there's no us."

"I guess not." I turn and walk out of her house. I go to my car and feel this wave of sadness hit me like a ton of bricks. I'm not one to cry, but I loved her so much and I might have just lost her forever. I quickly collect myself and start my car. When I get back to my house, I head up to my room and see my hoodie on the floor. I pick it up and realize that it's the one that I gave to Carly after the Homecoming dace because she got cold. I throw it back down on the floor and flop down on my bed. Did I just give up the best thing that's ever happened to me?
