C H A P T E R 21

When we make it into the Compound walls I vamp speed to my room without saying a word. I pull my phone out and call Bella.

"Please answer Bella." I whisper walking out to the balcony after taking my shoes off.

"Hey Rose." Edward says.

"Edward." My voice cracks.

"What's wrong?" Edward asks. I hear static and the Bella's voice.

"Rose what's wrong? Talk to me." Bella says.

"I saw Jack." I say leaning against the balcony railing.

"Cheater Jack?" Bella asks.

"Yeah. And we danced like we used to and he didn't know who I was. I saw his girlfriend he cheated on me with. Bella I feel so stupid to be so upset with it being a year since we broke up. And I want to go somewhere with Nik." I frost the railing with my powers. "I kissed Nik today."

"Really?"

"Yeah it was amazing. But I did it to rile Jack. Not because I like him. I feel awful." I say.

"Just go eat something human food or blood." Bella says.

"I will. I'm sorry I interrupted you guys. I love y'all." I say. She says it back before hanging up. I don't even go downstairs I just head straight to bed.

*D R E A M*

I walk into the bedroom and lock the balcony door. I turn around when Nik walks in.

"We need to talk." Nik says leaning against the door frame.

"Yeah. We do." I sigh before walking back out to the balcony. Nik walks behind me and stands on my left leaning against the railing.

"So what was up with that Jack person?" Nik asks after a few minutes of silence.

"Jack was my ex from Arizona. He cheated on me. I don't know why I reacted like I did." I say looking at my hand. "I'm sorry I brought you into it and kissed you like I did."

"Don't apologize. I enjoyed the kiss. Rose you do know that I fancy you." Nik says turning me to face him.

"I know. I just shouldn't have done what I did." I say shaking my head and looking back out towards the city below. He gently moves my face back towards him and smiles.

"I understand now why you did what you did. Jack cheated on you. You wanted to show that you can move one without him." Nik says caressing my face in his hands. I look in his eyes to find hope in his eyes.

I stand on my tippy toes and lightly touch my lips to his. He deepens the kiss and brings me closer if possible. I wrap my arms around his neck and saver the moment. When we pull away we are both breathing deeply.

"Nik what are we?" I whisper. He kisses my forehead tenderly.

"We are taking things slowly like you asked." Nik says looking in my eyes.

"Why can't you be like this in front of other vampires?" I ask.

"Because if I'm good people expect good. And I don't want to live up to anyone's expectations." Nik says leaning against the railing again.

"I don't want to take it slow." I blurt out. Nik looks at me shocked. "Why take it slow. I have an eternity to get to know you."

Nik has the biggest smile on his face. He caresses my face and kisses me again. I smile in the kiss. We pull away both smiling.

"I'm gonna live for this Rose."

I gasp awake at the dream. I look around to find the sun just now rising. I rub my face getting the sleep out of my eyes before climbing out of bed and heading to the bathroom to get ready for the day.
