Her Humanity

C H A P T E R 31

I wake up in the middle of the night. I had a nightmare of the Volturi killing my Renesmee. I climb out of the bed and walk downstairs to find that everyone is gone.

I walk into the kitchen and start baking cookies. I'm sitting on the counter waiting for the cookies to bake when the door opens to reveal the Cullen family coming home.

"Hey Rose." Esme says when she walks into the kitchen. "You sleep ok?"

"Not really." I say hopping off of the counter and taking the first batch of cookies.

"I'm sorry. I'm always here if you need someone to talk to." She says squeezing my arm.

"Thank you Esme."

She smiles then walks into a different room. After I'm done with all the cookies I still am not sleepy. I pull my phone out and call Bella.

"Hey Rose."

"Are you and Edward busy? I'm bored and I don't want to bake a lot of food that only two people can eat."

"Yeah. You can come down." She says.

"Ok. Bye!" I hang up then vamp speed upstairs and change clothes. I put on black leggings and a loose gray sweater. I put on my black and gray sneakers then walk downstairs.

"Going to Bella's?" Carlisle asks when he steps out of his office.

"Yeah." He nods his head.

"When you get back. You wanna help me research more on Renesmee?"

"I'd loved to." I say smiling. He nods his head then goes into his office and closes the door.

I walk down the stairs and out the door. I vamp speed to Bella's cabin and when I make it to it Edward is standing outside waiting.

I hug him and then we walk inside to find Bella reading. I sit down beside her and lay my head on her shoulder.

That's how I fell asleep. Listening to Bella read the Great Gatsby. I wake up the next morning to Renesmee bouncing on me. I smile at her then hug her tightly.

"Good morning." She says in my ear.

"Good morning Renesmee. There are chocolate chip cookies up at Carlisle's house." She looks at me with a bright smile. "Where is mom and dad?"

"Their room." She says then snuggles into my chest. "Will you read to me?"

"Of course. Go grab what you want me to read." She hops off of me and walks to the bookshelf and to my surprise she pulls Harry Potter off of the shelf.

"Mama said you like these books." She says climbing back into my lap.

"These books are my favorite." I say smiling. She snuggles into my lap while I start reading. "Mr. and Mrs. Dursley, of number four, Privet Drive, were proud to say that they were perfectly normal, thank you very much..."

By the time we are halfway through chapter three Edward and Bella make their presence known. Bella smiles at me while I continue the story.

"I was waiting for the day Rose would try to make her like Harry Potter." Bella says to Edward.

"I knew it would be soon." Edward says laying his chin on her shoulder. "We have to get to the house. The Denali's are coming."

"To see Renesmee?" I ask marking where Renesmee and I ended.

"Yeah. Have you called Klaus and asked if it was ok for him to come down for an entire month?"

"He's already here. My house I'm building is almost done. He's here checking everything and he said he was staying here along with his siblings. They built a home close to mine that I didn't know about."
