"Kaylee," I shout as her figure appears in front of mine and Zoe's eyes. "Happy birthday, baby!"

She opens her arms widely and I can't do anything else than pulling her into my tight embrace to which her reaction is a loud laughter. I wouldn't exactly define my hugs as aggressive, but they might be overwhelming for someone who's never had my arms wrapped around their body.

God, she looks impeccable. Her nails are a bright shade of pink color and they were probably done only yesterday. Her normally fuzzy hair is braided endlessly long. A loose black lace top is tucked into her black denim shorts, and an almost unnoticeable long, thin gold moon necklace is dangling around her neck. On top of that she's wearing matching earrings, and only a tiny bit of makeup is applied to her dark skin. The warm evening sun is shining right into her face and brightens her excited grin even more; she's literally a glowing goddess.

"Jeez, I missed you both so much," she laughs and next hugs Zoe who is sort of awkwardly standing behind me.

"How does it feel to be 18?" Zoe sympathetically smiles and is probably expecting the most detailed response she has ever gotten to one of her question.

"Honestly, just like yesterday. I mean, I can drive by myself now, so that's kind of an advantage, I'd say," she explains happily and jokingly sticks her tongue a bit out as she mentions the part of being able to drive a car by herself now. She'll be teasing Zoe and me with that from now on until we both finally reach the age of 18. My 17th birthday is in December, just to declare that and so that you know how long I still have to suffer from not being officially legal.

"You also know what that means?" I smirk and bite my bottom lip anticipated.

"What?" She furrows and her smiles slowly fades, it leaves her naturally plump lips in a straight line behind as confusion seemingly replaces the previous jolly expression on her symmetrical face.

"Tons of late night drives," I clear and calm her asking look. "Not some inappropriate shit."

"You two," Zoe sighs and raises her brows a microscopically bit whilst shaking her head from side to side and chuckling to herself.

"Anyways, wanna go inside?" Kaylee asks and we—Zoe and I—instantly agree to her suggestion.

"Livia is having a sleepover with a friend and my parents went out on a date, so they won't be here till like 11, I think," my 18-year-old friend explains as we're shuffling through their perfectly clean and neatly decorated house, heading straight to the large yard behind the villa I might even call it.

Livia, also known as Olivia, is Kaylee's sister who is five years younger than her, meaning she's 13, a girl in the first semester of her many teenage years. Kaylee also has a nickname we frequently annoy her with. Key. The explanation to the establishment of the name is very simple. She always is the first one to find solutions to problems and has the best ideas when it comes to creating a creative piece of art. Since she doesn't really appreciate her friends calling her that, we use the name she was born with.

On our way to the grass field attached to the back of the house, I can spot tables and chairs being set up for her little birthday party that has already begun. Additionally, a few single faces come in the way of my sight. They're not particularly familiar but I had the pleasure to meet some of them before.
