Chapter 31

The following day was hell. German went by smoothly, but then, Maths came up at some point of the day. Satan felt sleep shortage hit him like a tennis racket and he fell asleep over his math notes. Once again. Weird thing that this only happened in Maths lessons. They were like the opposite of caffeine. They made him sleepy as heck. Numbers were probably something like sleeping pills. They clouded his brain and made it unusable, and then he fell asleep. Fortunately, Lucifer wasn't going to wake him this time. Kenji didn't, either. He only had the courtesy to hold a math book in front of Satan, so that the math teacher didn't even notice his little lapse aka. nap. At the end of the period, Kenji woke him up by holding a cookie in front of Lucifer's brother. Satan first opened one eye, then seemed to identify the smell and sat up. "...?! He gave Satan the cookie. „I wasn't going to keep it away from you anyway, snore nose.", „You have my gratitude." Satan instantly ate the yummy cookie. „Uhm... We got P.E. today again, right?", „Yes, we are doing a little class-internal tournament today.", „Again?", „Yeah, Aoi does that often. Seems to be his way to keep us motivated.", „I see. Well, we rock this~" During the break, the demon brothers deliberately stayed away from the canteen because they knew that both Kagami and Elaine as well as Marina were sitting there at lunchtime, and Lucifer had no desire to hear them rhapsodizing about him or even be spoken to by these lovesick girls.

The P.E. lessons went by faster than desired. Satan and Lucifer ended up on the same team, which meant they literally ripped off their opponents. Even tho Lucifer cheated from time to time. In retrospect, Satan held that up to him. "Did you really have to use your time magic? At something like that?", "I was bored," he murmured. "And come on, it was just one tiny spell. Nothing great.", "You cheated anyway.", "Who cares? Why are you complaining about that now?", "I'm not complaining!", "No, of course not." Lucifer went past him. Satan sighed to himself and followed him. Sometimes, Lucy could be really weird. Such a show-off.

Friday was not at all worth being mentioned. It was just, in an of itself boring from head to toe. But Saturday certainly was. Satan strolled through Rosethorn Street to get something delicious from the bakery when he met Kenji. The blue-haired student was wearing a white shirt and was therefore hard to miss. Satan was wearing his normal clothes, but he had decided to button his jacket. Not everyone would be excited about him presenting his sixpack to everyone. Although he wouldn't have cared, Lucy sometimes behaved more like his mother than his brother and advised him to behave. So Satan did so, even if quite reluctantly. He raised his hand. "Yo! Kenji!" Kenji looked around and saw him. "Raiden! What are you doing here?", "I'm going to the bakery, you?", "I'm on the way to my sister's place. She wanted to eat with me. I'm not really keen on it now, but... Whatever. You look good, dude.", "Hehe, thanks. I know looks aren't everything, but I have them, just in case." Kenji laughed. "You seem more awake than the last few days. Did you finally get your hands on caffeine?", "Mh, no. I was just able to sleep as long as I wanted. I can only live out a great day if I have my 12 hours of sleep.", "What. You sleep half of the day?", "Uh... yeah?", "You must have a great life, eh.", "Yeah, indeed~" Satan nodded. They walked side by side for a while through the street, which was becoming increasingly empty. Kenji seemed to be in a good mood and that was subtly contagious. Satan wanted to whistle to himself. However, that passed quickly when he suddenly noticed something. His eyes widened in shock. He recognized a Honekraa not far from them. One of those nauseating skeleton-insect-beasts from the forest. But how the hell did it get here? The barrier had been closed, Helaria had made sure of that! So why was this beast here? Blood dripped from his jaws, so Satan assumed it already had killed a few dozen people and digested them. "Uh ... Kenji? Do you happen to have to ... turn or something?", "No, I have to go straight," he replied, looking at Satan in confusion. "Are you not well? You look so pale." Satan did not respond, instead, he stared at the Honekraa. "I ... suggest you ... take a detour or something ..." Kenji followed Satan's gaze, but saw nothing. These monsters were invisible to the human eye. "Why are you staring holes in the air? What's going on?", "Just go. Plea...se..." The Honekraa lifted its head and glowing eyes spotted them. "Shit ..." he murmured barely audibly.The Honekraa roared, which Kenji couldn't hear either, and came toward them with flashing claws. Satan tensed. "Kenji ... run away.", "What? Why?", "Just do it! RUN!!!" But it was too late. The Honekraa raised a hand and before Satan could even react, its claws shot out. Kenji was hit with such force that he was thrown through the air and landed on the ground backwards a few meters away. His eyes were wide with terror and his white t-shirt turned red at a frantic pace. A pool of blood spread beneath him. The beast growled at Satan and snapped at him, but he dodged and landed in front of Kenji. "Rai ... den ..." Kenji's eyes were only half open. "What the ..." Satan growled. "He's not your lunch, you bastard!" he growled. The Honekraa whipped its tail and came up to him. That made Satan mad. Hissing, he pulled the jacket off his body and at the moment he didn't care whether Kenji could see him or not. He transformed. Thorns shot out of his shoulders and dragon wings sprouted out of his back when Satan switched to Full Demon Mode and hissed at the beast. "FOR THAT, YOU PAY!!!" A golden aura surrounded him, speeding him up. Kenji's eyes fell close when Satan went for the raid. He jumped into the air and flew high up, charging magic at his hand. "Cosmic Energy Beam!!" A beam of energy shot against the monster's shoulder and it screeched. It struck at Satan with its thorn-spared tail, but he evaded the strike in flight and spread his arms. Spheres appeared all around him. "88 Spheres of universe!!" He sent each of them towards the monster, which was ruthlessly smashed to the ground. It roared and hissed in the dust cloud, but Satan did not stop. He raised his hand. "Descend of the Falling Stars!" Five rays shot down at the same time and drilled themselves into the adversary, whose body got covered with deep injuries. However, it did not let up. Anger burned the beast's eyes as it clawed for Satan. It blocked with its own claws and then tore off the beast's arm. It screeched. Satan decided to finally give it the final blow. He shot back into the air, wings spread out on either side. He reached out a hand and clenched it into a fist in front of him. "Black Hole Eclipse!" A black hole formed over the monster and pulled it inside. Satan jerked his arm up and the black hole shot up to the sky, where it exploded with a loud bang. Blood rained down and splashed onto the asphalt and against the surrounding houses. Satan landed panting and turned back again, his wings disappeared and so did his claws. Only the wrath remained in his blood red eyes.
