Chapter 18

When they arrived at school, Keiko was waiting at the door. He had folded his arms in front of his chest and looked up when Satan went past him. „Thanks for the volleyball face punch on Tuesday, Raiden. I'm glad my nose survived it.", „If laughter was the best medicine, your face must've been curing the world!" Satan responded with a bright grin. „...Very funny." Keiko grumbled. „Anytime again!" With these words, Satan went past him. Lucy followed. Keiko rolled with his eyes. He was on his way to his place when Satan could hear Irina talking to Elaine Asahara and Kotone. As uninvolved as possible, he joined them. „Just as imagination. If I'd eat myself, would I become twice as big or disappear completely?", „That just... blew my mind." Satan said. Irina looked at him. „Why?", „It's kinda strange to just imagine that. But... I'd say you simply die.", „I needa agree with Raiden." Kotone commented. „By the way... When I die and go to heaven, can I still watch anime? If not, then I don't want to die!" Satan had to restrain his laughter. „I admit that it's self-assured of you to think you land in heaven. However, it sounds depressing if you can't watch any anime there. Now, if you can, it would be awesome... also depends on your beliefs." Kotone giggled. „Well, yeah, right...", „Just askin'... I'm a vegan, you know. What percentage of water is celery?" Irina questioned. „I mean... celery has virtually no nutrition in it. It's basically all water, so... what percentage of water is it?", „How the heck are we supposed to know?" Elaine asked. Satan sighed. „Water is exactly zero percent of celery." he responded. Irina looked at him with an confused face expression. „That wasn't my-", „In case you wanted to ask what percentage of water celery has, you should try using better grammar." Irina remained speechless for some seconds. „Okay, Mr. Smartass, nobody asked you for your opinion.", „And I am not waiting for anybody's permission to say my opinion, so I honestly don't care." Kotone laughed. „I like you, Raiden!" Irina hissed. „To me, it seems like he has a little attitude problem.", „I don't have an attitude problem. You have a problem with my attitude and that's not my problem." Satan replied. Irina sighed. „Do you guys have any phobias?" she tried to switch the theme instead. "Yeah, the phobia of wasps." Elaine mumbled. "And you?", "What's the phobia of chainsaws called?" Irina asked. „I don't know." Satan answered calmly. „Try it with common sense. Seriously, sometimes, I'm asking myself who ties your shoelaces for you.", „You REALLY are an asshole." Irina grumbled. „If my jokes offend you, 1. I'm sorry, 2. It won't happen again, 3. One and two are both lies and 4. you're a fool if you really believed what I was saying.", „Why are you so shitty to me?" Irina asked. „..." Satan looked at her with a face that clearly stated that he was surprised that she even questioned him that. „Let me get this straight. You are a bitch to me and you're surprised that I'm a bitch back? You must be a very STUPID bitch.", „You are horrible, you know that?", „No. I am a nice person unless you push the bitch button." With these words, Satan turned around and gave them the go-by. He went to his seat next to Kenji. "Yay, stupidity stikes again... " he sighed. „I noticed that..." Kenji seemed a bit tired. „What's up with you?", „Nothing... just had an argument with my mother in the morning. Nothing big, really.", „Okay..." Satan nodded and decided not to ask any details. „I listened to your little... talk-to with Irina." Kenji started. "You really don't hold back, do you?", „I simply keep it real because I'm not afraid to make enemies. They can't take me down anyway. And after her idiotic behavior towards you on Tuesday, it's really not worth the effort of wasting my energy on trying to be nice to her." 

Lucy quietly sat at his table and skimmed through his notes before he heard someone coming his way. He raised his head and immediately wished to disappear. It was Kagami. „Hello, Kaito." She had a peace of paper in her hands. „Hello, Kagami. Do you need anything?", „N-no, I just..." she looked on the folded paper in her hand. „...I just wanted to thank you for helping me yesterday...", „Not a deal." he responded calmly. „What's your feeling for the test today?", „I guess I am prepared..." she said. „That sounds promising. I am glad my explanations helped you out.", „So am I..." Kagami's look fell on Lucy's bandaged hand. „Uhm... what happened to your hand?", „I cut myself." he responded. „Window glass. Nothing big.", „Oh... Uhm... K-Kaito?" Kagami turned red. „Still present?" Lucy answered. Kagami again looked at the paper in her hand and then shook her head. „U-uhm... n-nevermind!" she turned around and quickly went back to her seat. Lucy looked after her and sighed in relief.
Kenji looked at her. „Kagami is looking like she's kinda down today.", „Leave that to me." Satan said. „...I doubt that's a good idea." Kenji mumbled. „We'll see!" Satan stood up and went over to Kagami's seat. „Hey... you're sad, aren't you?" Kagami looked at the folded paper in her hand and then put it into her pencil case. „...sorta...", „Hey, sweetie." Satan squatted down next to her and gave her a bright, cheeky smile. „Life's short. Smile while you still have teeth." The purple-haired girl looked at him before she suddenly burst out into laughter. „Hahaha... yeah, you're right!" Satan chuckled. „Well, so, whatever you're sad about, don't let it take ya down, okay? Nothing's impossible. I mean... it's the word itself that says ‚I'Mpossible.'" Kagami's eyes started shimmering. „Yeah, that's true... Hey, Raiden? Can you tell me where Kaito's locker is?" Satan raised his eyebrows. „Why?", „Just... asking.", „You do know I don't believe you. Do you wanna put a message into his locker? Like... a love letter or something?", „What? N-No!" Kagami heavily shook her head. „I just... uhm... wanted... to... uhm... Why do you even care?" Satan knew that he hit the mark. „...well, he's my brother but I have to disappoint you. I have no fucking clue about which of the ten thousands of lockers down on the ground floor is Kaito's. Because... I usually arrive here later than him and today, Kaito wasn't at his locker." Kagami seemed disappointed. „Okay... anyway, thank you for your help...", „No big deal." Satan turned around and went back to his seat. „And?" Kenji asked. „Kagami seemingly wanted to give Kaito a love letter but she didn't dare to in the end." Satan shrugged. Kenji laughed. „Poor girl.", „Yeah." Satan took his seat next to him. „Did you hear about the mysterious theft in the night?" Kenji asked. „Uhm, what?" Satan raised his eyebrows. „No, I didn't. Go on, enlighten me.", „A bronze statue was stolen from an antiques shop in Narcissia Avenue. The police found it destroyed near the shop. No window was broken and the door was locked, nobody knows how the thief got inside.", „What statue was it?" Satan asked. „A statue that portrayed Lucifer." Kenji replied. „Oh..." Satan nodded. „Well, that's weird. Must've been someone who can't stand him and somebody who can walk through walls." Satan looked at Lucy. „Excuse me for a second." He stood up again and went over to Lucy. „Seriously?", „Seriously what?" Lucifer asked. „That statue." Lucifer raised his eyebrow. „What statue?", „Don't play the innocent guy." Satan put his hands on his hip. „You were the one who destroyed that Lucifer statue last night, am I right? That's why you have that bandage now. You punched the window glass." Lucifer sighed. „..Yeah, and?", „What has gotten into you?", „It insulted me. It looked like a monster crossed with an ogre in a human body.", „....oh." Satan nodded and raised his hand. „Well.... Now, I get you. Poor boy." Lucifer looked him in the eyes. „Satan. Don't you dare patting me." Satan lowered his hand again. „And besides..." Lucifer looked at his own hand. „...it's nothing big. They will forget that it happened soon enough...", „By the way, if I were you, I'd stick down my locker.", „Why?" Lucifer asked confused. „Kagami has a romantic letter for you.", „.... you're joking, aren't you?", „Nope. Not the slightest bit." Lucifer put his forehead on the tabletop. „... I don't know what to say.", „Now, I'm really sorry for you." Satan commented. „Shut up." Lucy replied. „I know you're not.", „No, not really."
