Chapter 30

As Satan and Lucy later met up at the central plaza, they shortly debated about what happened. They came to the conclusion that it was not normal at all. "We should hope that we receive an answer soon", Lucifer said. "I sent the rest of the UH Squad to investigate. I'm positive they will find the answer.", "Same." Satan nodded. "Until then, we should head back." Lucifer nodded. "Agreed. We've cleaned the city for now and when Helaria can close the leak in the barrier which must've clearly caused this, the case is clarified. ...I hope", he added. "What do you mean with 'I hope'? You got doubts?", "Not sure. I think it's weird that the barrier is leaking now... the first time it has first been build up 500 years ago. That thing is older than I am.", "Mh..." Satan sighed. "Dunno... Maybe it was just temporary. Everything has to be patched or repaired at the one time or the other, so...", "...Maybe you're right." Lucifer nodded. "Let's go back."

Soon after they've headed back, Lucifer received another WhatsApp message.  

"They've repaired the barrier", Lucifer informed Satan. "So this crap is over now. I hope so, at least.", "That means we never needa go to school again?", "We finish the time we have up to autumn vacation, got me, Satan? That are only two weeks. You'll survive that.", "Okay..." Satan sighed hopelessly.

On Wednesday, when Satan came to school again, Kenji was waiting for him. "Kaito is better as I can see.", "Yeah. He vomited his throat out of his neck so yesterday but now, he's perfectly fine again." Satan could literally feel Lucy's burning glance in his back but he did his best to ignore it. Their day started with Geography and Satan failed pretty hard. Akiyama-Sensei had hung up a map of entire Europe and asked: "How many climate zones does Europe have?" Satan thought a bit. "Five", Satan replied. "The Polar Zone, the Sub Polar Zone, the Temperate Climate Zone and the Subtropical Zone." He went them through in his head again and then hesitated. "...Wait a minute... that were just four..." He facepalmed himself. "Four! I meant four!" Kenji chuckled silently. Asuka Satomi, a girl sitting behind them, said: "Raiden, 19, is too stupid to count." Satan turned his head. "I'm sorry, it's Wednesday morning and I know I'm stupid. Shut the fuck up." Asuka giggled quietly. "You feel offended so easily, Rai. That's kinda cute. Don't take everything so seriously!", "I am seriousness in person..." Raiden mumbled. Kenji held a hand in front of his mouth. "Yeah, sure." Satan looked at him. "...Why are you laughing at me?!", "I am not laughing AT you, I am laughing ABOUT you. Just a question... Is there a difference between you being rude and you being polite?" Satan grinned. "Of course! When I'm rude, I say 'Shut the fuck up', and when I'm polite, I say 'Please, shut the fuck up'.", "....Wow." Kenji shook his head laughing. "That's a huge difference.", "In my case, it is, yeah."
In German, Satan was pretty fine and in Chemistry and Physics, literally everything went wrong. They experimented on artificial material and Satan managed to burn that entire stuff down and in Physics, he accidentally short-circuited the electrical circuit they were working with. Well, perfect. In Informatics, he was lucky that Kenji helped him out and in the two English lessons thereafter, he could finally relax a bit. When they were home, Satan ran down to the fridge twice to get some coke that was supposed to keep him awake. As Lucifer noticed that, he leaned against the door frame and folded his arms. "Well, how often do you wanna have a date with the fridge today?", "I can't stand long-distance relationships", Satan replied. "Magnetism, as you can recall from Physics Class, is a powerful force that causes certain items to be attracted to refrigerators." Lucifer chuckled quietly. "And you are such a certain item, huh?", "Me? Noooooooooo. Absolutely not! No!" Lucifer shook his head and walked past him to check the fridge. "WHAT THE HECK?!?! YOU'VE DRUNKEN UP ALL THE COKE?!?", "Uh..." Satan looked at the bottle in his hand. "...I... thought there was one left. Is this really the last one?" Lucifer turned around to him. "Don't gimme that shit, Sati, you KNOW PRECISELY that that is the last bottle, you damn hog!", "I'm sorryyyy!!" Lucifer sighed. "...Whatever... Seems like I gotta buy some new ones then..." He closed the fridge.

Thursday, actually, went pretty nice until their last period. Psychology. They were talking about boundaries and development and... yeah... natural reactions of humans towards little kids. Aka... their Psychology teacher had brought a doll and announced some 'funny' experiments and looked for two volunteers, a boy and a girl. Those two volunteers were Nanako Sasaki and Takeru Inoue... However, they didn't expect WHAT they had to do. If they had known, they would never have volunteered. Actually... the two were sent outside and the teacher then started playing baby crying from an audio. They had to 'simulate' trying to calm it and the others had to observe what they'd do. However... the audio was a bit... TOO loud. Lucifer pressed his hands on his ears. "Gaaah, that's too loud... Make it stop!" He growled silently, but no one seemed to pay any attention to him. It didn't last long until he completely freaked out and ran out of the room. Satan had to admit... it WAS painful. For him, it wouldn't take that long before he'd follow Lucifer. The other students looked after the devil in huge surprise and with a lot of question marks in their faces. The audio continued to play. Three. Two. One. Okay. ENOUGH. Satan jumped up and rushed towards the door. He stumbled outside with his ears covered and detached himself from the room. Lucy was standing in the hallways. "Ah, you lost it too?" He remarked and looked at Satan. Satan nodded. "Yeah. That's unbearable. That's... torture.", "Yeah. I thought I'm turning crazy." Lucifer sank down along the wall. "Ugh, if I have to go through this again, I'll definitely lose my mind.", "Yeah, actually..." Takeru came to them. "Uh... Are you guys fine?", "Yeah, absolutely..." Lucifer said. "We... come back in when the experiment is over.", "O....kay...?" Takeru seemed confused but nodded. "What are they doing anyway?", "Something embarrassing for a guy.", "What?", "Baby simulator.", "...You gotta be kidding me, right?", "Nope. Not at all. Didn't you hear that loud whining?", "I actually was busy answering my messages, so no.", "...How can someone overhear that..." Lucifer sounded dumbfounded. "Anyway, Takeru, have fun.", "Yeah, I hope a hole opens underneath my feet and swallows me before I have to go inside. I'm gonna tell ye when this crap is over.", "Thanks, you got our honest gratitude..." Lucifer nodded at him and Takeru went into the Lion's den.
