The next morning I was awoken by the smell of pancakes. 7am may be early for pancakes but not for me, I can eat at anytime and anywhere, it's something of a gift of mine."Are you looking forward to your second day honey, how are the girls? You should tell them to come round next weekend, I miss them." My Mom loved both Sophia and Hailey which was something I was eternally grateful for.
It was just me and my Mom at home, I don't remember my Dad since he died when I was 2. My Mom never re-married or had another baby so it's just the two of us and that's how I like it. Sometimes I think about the fact I don't have a father and it does make me upset, but as bad as it sounds I'm thankful that I never really knew him. If we had formed that father-daughter bond who knows how I would have gotten over his death.
My Mom seemed happy but sometimes when she smiles it doesn't quite reach her eye's and there are times when I catch her looking at old photos, or crying on her own and I just wish I could take some of the pain away. She's my best friend and there isn't anything I wouldn't do for her.
"Well I'm not dreading it so that's always a good sign, and I'll tell them to come round Friday night I'm sure they'll be free."
We finished up breakfast and I quickly gave her a kiss on the cheek after Sophia texted to say she was outside.
-----
It was lunch time before we knew it and I debated whether to tell Sophia and Hailey who gave me a ride home yesterday. I regretted my decision as soon as the whole lunch room was staring at us as my best friends were screaming loud enough to deafen the whole school.
"Guy's it's not that big of a deal, it was just a ride home."
Hailey gave me one of her looks that told me this was more than just a ride home. "Anna you were in a confided space with sex God Mr Maxwell this is huge."
Sophia then chimed in on the taunting, "I don't know how you didn't rip his trousers off and shove the whole of him in your mouth right there and then," and with that I couldn't help but join in on the laughter. She was no unnecessarily vulgar.
Just before lunch ended Jack came over to speak to Hailey, he looked like the slightly older male version of Hailey- blond hair and striking blue eyes that ran in the family.
"Hailey, can you catch a ride with Sophia today I need to cover for the football coach after classes?" Before Hailey could reply for herself Sophia chimed in, "Of course I'll give her a ride home Jack, I can give you a ride at any point if you need one too" she said with an innocent smile on her face but Jack's face immediately turned red. "Thanks smelly, I appreciate it." He said before walking away briskly.
Sophia is lucky that her dark skin couldn't beat red like mine and give her away because she'd definitely be blushing by now. Jack calls her smelly because of this one time we all fell asleep in Hailey's living room and unfortunately for Sophia whilst Jack was making food she couldn't stop farting in her sleep. When she woke up there was an awful smell and Jack told her why, she was mortified but that doesn't stop her from trying to flirt with her man.
After Hailey and I finally stopped laughing at Sophia she decided she was too embarrassed to even attempt to go into gym next period. "Guys please, let's ditch gym we can go get milkshakes if you'd like." As soon as the word milkshake left her lips I knew I wouldn't be present in gym class.
"Sophia you are the gift that just keeps on giving, let's go to the diner, smelly." I quickly dodged the slap that was heading for my shoulder and ran to her car calling shotgun.
The radio blasted as we headed to Diner 99 which was our favourite spot in town. There were several motorcycles outside which looked awfully misplaced outside the diner. The reason for the motorcycle's was explained once we walked inside. There were around 10 guys wearing leather jackets, huddled around at one side of the diner.
We quickly sat down in a booth and I felt seriously uncomfortable. Sophia and Hailey were chatting about the 'Gorgeous' motorcycle guys that were sat down, but I couldn't shake the feeling that eyes were on me. Our waiter came and took our orders and we all had milkshakes, chocolate for Hailey, Strawberry for me and Vanilla for Sophia, that's been our order from since I can remember.
"Did you hear me Anna, that's the Blue Water gang." My ears perked up at Sophia's words. The Blue Water gang were ruthless and everyone in town knew not to mess with them. This is the closest I'd ever gotten to any one of them. Suddenly I really wanted to leave but I had a milkshake on the way and I wouldn't leave that for anything.
"Gosh they may be violent ass-holes but they sure are gorgeous. Annabella, look the guy with the tattoos is staring right at you." Hailey's words scared me a little but I looked over, trying to be discreet.
As I turned around I was met with the bluest eye's I'd ever seen in my life. And I thought Hailey and Jack had mesmerising eyes. This guy was drop dead gorgeous, he had brown hair, amazing eyes, and I could see tattoo's all over his neck and arms. You could tell he had a big build from where he was sat and a smirk reached his face when he saw how deeply I was checking him out. I met his eyes again and I couldn't look away, they may have been an amazing shade of blue but his stare was intimidating, he had a cold aura radiating off him and it sent a shiver down my spine.
I quickly looked away as our milkshakes arrived but I had a feeling the mystery man was still staring at me.
The girls and I made small chit chat and no less than five minutes later the mysterious gang member started walking over to us. He grabbed a leather jacket and slipped it on and my mouth almost fell open. He was a piece of art.
"Shit guy's I think he's coming over here, what the hell are we going to do, these guys are dangerous." I said quickly to my friends but they didn't seem as scared as I did.
"Just act cool and don't be a dork then maybe they won't kill us." Sophia said unhelpfully.
"Ladies, how are we enjoying the shakes?" the tattooed Adonis said as he approached our table.
"They're fine thanks" Hailey said taking one for the team.
"How about you Little Red, how's your milkshake?" I almost choked on my shake as he spoke to me directly and the scared feeling I had before intensified.
"Umm it's good." Then I made the mistake of looking up at this handsome stranger, his face was closer than I realised and I had no room to make space.
"I'm Ripper but you can call me Noah."
"Okay, I'm just going to finish my shake and then we'll be going." I looked to Sophia as I spoke since I didn't want to look into his eye's again. He called himself Ripper so he has to be bad news with a name like that.
"I'm sorry Little Red let me introduce myself properly. I'm Noah Ripper Blackwell and you've caught my eye, what's your name?"
"I'm sorry but I don't give my name out to strangers, would you mind leaving us alone?" I kept my tone light, I think.
Suddenly a murderous look crossed his face and before I knew it, he had his hand wrapped around Sophia's throat. Hailey and I screamed as Sophia's eyes grew bigger and she attempted to remove his hand from her neck, struggling to breathe.
"Sorry what was that sweetheart, your name?"
"Annabella, my name is Annabella Johnson." he let go of Sophia and she had tears falling from her eyes as Hailey hugged her.
"Okay Annabella that wasn't too hard now was it? See you around." He sent a wink my way before he and his goons left the diner, all getting on their bikes. He blew me a kiss through the window as he revved off away from the diner.
We made sure Sophia was okay and ran outside, locking ourselves in her car.
"What the fuck was that?!" Hailey screamed and Sophia still hadn't said a word.
Suddenly I'm thinking ditching school wasn't the best idea.
