The whole school stood whispering and pointing at me as I tried to make my way from homeroom to English. I kept replaying what happened this morning in my head and I still couldn't make sense of what was going through that maniacs head. Did he think I was his property something? I'm just a normal 17 year old trying to get by senior year. How have I got myself into some gang bang bullcrap?Hailey kept asking me questions I just didn't have the answer to. Why was Ripper at school this morning? I do not know. Why did he put his hands on me? I do not know. Why on earth did he make a public declaration of owning me in front of the whole school? That one I do not know.
"I'm actually a little bit jealous you know, I kind of wish a hot gang leader was thinking about me." that was enough to pull me out of my thoughts, Hailey was crazy.
"Hailey you've got to be kidding, there's nothing good about this, I just hope he leaves me alone now." She was about to reply but Mr Maxwell interrupted her as he made his way into class.
We were a few moments into the lesson when I looked up and found Mr Maxwell staring right at me with a worried expression on his face. I gave him a small smile and tried to concentrate on my work.
My phone vibrated in my pocket as I snuck a look it was a message from Hailey on our girls group chat. - Mr Maxwell will not take his eyes off of you today Anna, what's up with that? -
Before I could reply there was a cough above me from the Italian Stallion himself. "Phone please Annabella, come see me at the end of the day if you want it back." I gave him the phone straight away and shot Hailey a look that could kill from the front of the room.
It was a slow day and at lunch Hailey and I called Sophia from Hailey's phone and filled her in from the show this morning. It's safe to say she couldn't believe the news.
"Guy this isn't a joke, that guy is dangerous. Annabella please stay away from him." I could tell Sophia was still a little shaken up from the diner and I couldn't blame her.
"Soph, don't worry about me okay, I promise I have no intention of seeing that thug again, now we've got to go to gym we'll see you tomorrow."
"Okay guys, give my love to Jack for me will you Hailey." It's good to know she's still got her Sophia spirit in her.
Gym dragged as usual, but Jack isn't afraid to show favouritism when it comes to his sister so we get it a little easier than the others. I spend most of my time watching the jocks play football and the cheerleaders practice, before I know it, it was time to go collect my phone from Mr Maxwell.
I knocked on his door and walked straight in to find him grading papers at his desk. He really was a handsome man. The blue eyed monster was no doubt one of the best looking guys I've seen but when I look into his eyes I feel cold and I see nothing but emptiness. Mr Maxwell makes me feel warm and safe, and this morning just made me feel it even more. An inappropriate comment to make, I know.
"Hey Mr Maxwell is it okay if I get my phone now?" He looked at me for a good few seconds before answering me. "Sit down please Annabella, let's talk."
I do as he say's and sit in my normal seat, and with us being the only ones in the class it feels hotter in here.
"Okay, if this is about earlier honestly I don't know that guy, I met him last night at Diner 99 and he came over to us and started talking, he wanted to know my name but I wouldn't give it to him so he strangled Sophia so I had to and I think that's how he found out where I went to school."
For some reason I spilled my guts to Mr Maxwell and his face softened a little. "Look Annabella, this guy is dangerous I know about him and his crew. After what he said earlier in the yard I just want you to be extra careful okay. So I've put my number in your phone just for emergencies so don't be afraid to call me okay."
My heart almost melted. Literally.
"Thank you Mr Maxwell, I appreciated that more than you'll know. You really are a great teacher you know that."
He gave me one of his winning smiles and my heart melted a little bit more. "That's no problem Bella, now let me drive you home since I've forced you to stay over."
I was going to say I'll walk home since the weather was good but for some reason I didn't want to pass up any one on one time with him.
Soon enough we were on our way to my house chatting about the most random of things.
"You can't tell Sophia I told you that story she will kill me" I said to him as we both tried to hold back the laughter. "Okay I won't but I will have to say something to Jack and see what he has to say about the smelly incident."
It was nice to laugh with Mr Maxwell and I couldn't help but steal glances at him in his white shirt to which he had loosened a few buttons since the car was warmer than usual. "Thanks for the ride Mr M I owe you one."
When we stopped outside my house he turned his body to me and looked at me intensely. "You're a great girl you know Annabella."
I knew straight away at that point my face changed to match my hair. "Thanks Mr M you're not too bad yourself."
I gave him a quick kiss on the cheek and jumped out of his car, "Thanks for everything today sir I'll see you tomorrow." I waited for him to drive away before going in my house and I could see him smiling from the driver's seat.
If I thought I had a small crush on Mr M before then it has definitely magnified into something more. He really is a good guy.
Before I turned away to go into my house a motorcycle came racing from round the corner and my heart stopped. But it soon calmed down when it carried on the same way Mr Maxwell went. Hopefully I'm not going to pee my pants every time I see a motorcycle.
My Mom still wasn't home so I quickly made some pasta, took a shower and had myself an early night.
I gave Sophia and Hailey all the details of my afternoon, bar me spilling the beans about the smelly Sophia story. I debated messaging Mr M saying goodnight but then I remembered he did say it was for emergencies only.
I looked for his contact in my phone and couldn't see a Mr Maxwell in it, I thought maybe he didn't save it when I saw it right in front of my eyes, - Lorenzo Maxwell -.
