They were literally standing there, playing on OUR field.
"Can y'all move we're gonna play here like usual" Alvaro demanded.
"Um no, i think we're good. You either play with us or you don't play at all" the middle girl replied.
I rolled my eyes and pulled the boys in a group huddle.
"Can I just beat their asses" I whispered.
"No but we can make a deal" Kairi suggested.
While exchanging glances and talking about our deal, we soon broke apart.
"We have a deal to propose" Mattia announced.
"What is it cutie" the SAME middle girl said.
I stood in front of Mattia staring her dead in the eye.
"Our deal is, we win you stop playing at the sandlot, you guys win you get the Sandlot" I said with a smile, now holding Mattias hand.
He was next to me almost laughing because he saw how jealous I was getting.
"Fine, deal" Mount everest spat.
"My name is Lexi by the way" the middle girl winked, trying to introduce herself to Mattia.
"No one asked and no one cares" I replied grabbing his hand and taking him to our side dugout.
He laughed at me and gave me a kiss on the cheek assuring me no one was going to get in between us.
The group got huddled up in the dugout.
"All right team lets beat some ass" Ale shouted.
The boys started cheering and sitting down on the beach as we were up to bat.
The first person up to bat was Kairi. He hit the ball on the second pitch that was thrown. Straight through right field and made it to second base.
Then came Alvaro, Roshaun, Ale, Robert, Mattia, and Me.
When it was my turn I stared down Lexi who was pitcher. First ball thrown. I watched as it went down the middle into the catchers hands.
"strike" Lexi teased.
I rolled my eyes and focused my attention back on the ball. The second pitch was thrown and it went right over the catchers head.
"ball" I said trying to mimic her.
This time she rolled her eyes while I stayed focused on the ball.
The third pitch was thrown and it was good to hit. I swung my bat and watched as the ball flew behind all the players. It almost made it over the mysterious wall but stopped at the tip. It fell to the ground at the very back of the field. I dropped my bat and started to run. I made it through all the bases and slid at home. The team patted my back and I turned around to smile at Lexi. I'm usually not this petty but she basically asked for it.
The game kept going on and we kept playing as hard as possible. They were good but we were determined. It was tied and we were up last to bat.
We were still tied when it came down to Mattia and I. He was up to bat. He hit the fourth ball and only made it to second. It was all up to me. I stepped up to the plate and turned my attention to the ball. First ball, strike. Second ball, ball. Third ball, ball. Fourth ball, hit. I hit the ball hard but it didn't make it in the air. It was a grounder but it was going fast. It went in between the second baseman and the first baseman. It headed straight into the middle of the outfielders. I dropped the bat and ran as fast as I could. I made it past two bases and I started to round the third. Mattia already made it home. The ball was being thrown in. I barely made it to home base when Lexi ran towards me with the ball. She didn't tap me, she threw me. She tried to tag me with her glove but it was more of a big push. I slid across the dirt and scraped up my body. My ankle that I fell on was cut open again and bleeding. The boys all ran over to my side.
"oops" Lexi laughed.
That was the last fucking straw. I pushed myself up and ignored all of the pain my body was in. She was turned around laughing with her friends when I pushed her to face me. I threw my hardest punch possible straight at her face. She was thrown back into the floor and I got on top of her. I held her legs down as I continued punching her face. She was bleeding through her nose when Mattia pulled me off of her.
"Let me go!" I screamed at him.
The girl teammates helped her up as she stared at me in disbelief.
"Hope you learned your lesson bitch. Make sure next time you fuck with someone, you know how to fight back" I spat in Lexis face.
"Oh by the way we win stay the hell away" I finished.
She was still bleeding when she started walking away with her and her little minions. I've been waiting to do that since the first time that bitch opened her mouth.
"What the hell was that Smalls!" Kairi exclaimed.
"That was mother fucking payback" I said while wiping my forehead of sweat.
The boys just stared. I didn't need the judgment right then, so I walked away because I was getting annoyed. I also didn't need their opinions, I was proud of myself. It's about time I stood up for me.
I made it home and took a shower. After I was clean I laid down on my bed replaying the moment in my head of me punching Lexi in the face. I smiled and closed my eyes for a nap.
