Chapter 4

BRITTANY'S POV

" alright move out!" I yelled, as we walked swiftly into the two separate jets..

I stood by nick as the jet took off towards the destination.

" I just wanted to say something guys." I said, clearing my throat.

They all turned and faced me, looking expectantly.

" if, maybe , we don't make this out alive, and if not all of us will make it, I want to say that, I think you all as my family . My friends. Once you join shield, you become part of a team, part of a family. But we won't give up. There will be a day when the age of heroes will fail, where all hope is lost and the world will be taken over by villains. But it will NOT be this day. We are strong. We are the avengers. We will not give up! Do you understand? This is not the end. This, my friends, is only the beginning ."

It was silent for a minute before the room burst into cheers.

Everyone slowly came around and put their arms around me, into a group hug.

It was nice for the moment but then Steve broke the silence.

" alright. Everyone got the plan?" He yelled.

We all nodded.

We put our fists in the middle.

" ready? Break!"

We pumped our fists and at the top of our lungs we yelled.

" AVENGERS ASSEMBLE!"

This was it. Maybe my last battle.

But I never imagined it to go this way.

A battle against my sister.

As the door opened in the jet, opening up to the darkened sky, looking over our target, nick moved closer to me.

He put his hand on my shoulder and said." Just in case we don't make this ou-"

I stopped him by kissing him quickly.

" we WILL make this out alive nick. Just you wait." I prepared to jump but he stopped me, pulling me back into his arms.

" I love you."

I smiled despite the fear burning inside of me and hugged him tightly." I love you too."

I said before running and jumping out of the plane.

Just for those few seconds I smiled, spreading my arms out and swerving through the wind.

I was flying! .....sort of....

More like falling....

Wait...parachute!!

The ground was coming closer as I tried to desperately pull the cord.

I closed my eyes and cringed, awaiting the fall.

But just before I touched, the cord was pulled and I sighed with relief, falling to the ground.

I was so close to kissing the ground but I was pulled to my feet by Lucy.

" thanks." I laughed, standing up and stretching.

" now. The good part." Lucy grinned, jogging over to Steve.

" good luck with your sister!" She called back.

I nodded slowly and smiled weakly at her before going over to nick.

We hid in the bushes behind the building.

Thor and tony were already in the sky, ready to give us a signal.

" you ready?" Nick asked me, looking to his hologram watch.

I looked to my own and nodded." Ya. Are you?" I asked, not looking up,as I slid the screen, turning it to the timer.

I heard him sigh heavily." As I'll ever be, but yes."

I grinned." Good. Cause that's our cue." I dragged him to the edge of the woods as the timer went off in my watch.

" see you guys on the other side." I saluted to the avengers before nick and I disappeared into the shadows.

Come on HAWK.
