BRITTANY'S POV

" hey nick. How's the party going for your point of view?" I asked nick, walking up to him, a glass of punch in my hand.

He stuffed something away in his pocket and looked at me sheepishly.

" great. Can I...talk to you for a minute, outside?" He asked nervously.

I nodded, thinking nothing of the sorts and followed him onto the balcony.

Once we were outside he closed the door behind us, stuffing his hands in his coat pockets.

" what did you want to tell me?" I asked quietly, looking out to the stars.

Or, as much of I could see of the stars. All I could see was the moon, the rest if the sky was flooded with lights from the city.

" Brittany?" He asked.

I turned swiftly and smiled." Yes?"

He cleared his throat nervously.

" you are the most beautiful woman I have ever met. When I first met you I knew that you were the one. I want to spend the rest of my life with you."

Then he did the most unexpected thing.

He knelt down on one knee and pulled out a small black box.

He opened it, revealing a sparkling diamond ring.

" will you marry me?"

The glass I was holding fell to the ground, smashing into a million pieces.

I covered my mouth with my hands and sobbed.

There was no questioning me.

" yes! Yes! Of course!" I squealed, hugging him tightly, so much that he couldn't breathe.

A chocking sound of happiness erupted from his throat a he hugged me back, tighter than ever.

This hug lasted for only minutes but it felt like a lifetime when I was with him.

I stood up, pulling him up with me as he took my frail, shaking hand in his.

The ring was slipped on. It fit perfectly, like a puzzle piece connecting to its partner.

" should we wait to tell everyone?" I whispered, gesturing to the crowd inside.

He shook his head." No. Tomorrow. Let it be our little Christmas surprise." He said with a wink and a secret smile.

I nodded and smiled a knowing smile.

" alright. Shall we?" I asked, pulling him towards the door.

He nodded curtly." We shall."

As we walked into the room once more, I dashed across the room and flung myself in my sisters arms.

" merry Christmas." She smiled, letting go of the mans hand.

" merry Christmas." I grinned. I looked over to the man with a questioning look.

" this is Bucky. Bucky. Brittany."

I held out my hand to shake and he hesitantly shook it, showing only a ghost of a smile.

The man was tall, well built and had long, shoulder length brown hair that was pulled into a tiny ponytail behind his head.

He wore a back leather jacket and well fitting jeans.

One odd thing I noticed was the glint of silver on his left hand.

Then I remembered.

Of course.

Bucky. James Buchanan Barnes.

The Winter Soldier.

I should've remembered.

" it's a pleasure to meet you Bucky . I assume your dealing well with all...well, this." I gestured to the room and out the door.

He shrugged innocently and smirked." I'm getting there."

I nodded." I heard Steve and you are quite close."

A smile made its way onto his lips.

" yes. We are. Where is he? Have you seen him?"

I nodded and pointed across the room to where Steve stood chatting with Lucy.

" he's talking to Lucy." I said.

He nodded his thanks.

" who's that?" He asked, pointing to Lucy.

I smiled." His girlfriend. You should go over and meet her. She's a sweet heart. Their perfect for each other." I sighed at the thought.

His eyes widened so much that I thought they would pop out of their sockets.

" he has a girlfriend?" He burst out.

I face palmed with a sigh.
