Pursue one great decisive aim with force and determination.

I cornered a nurse outside Cassie's room the next time I visited her.
"Hi! I'm Phil, Cassie's brother." I introduced myself.
"Hello, Phil, how can I help you?" the nurse inquired, smiling sweetly.
"I know my sister isn't supposed to leave her room but-"
"No, I'm sorry, it's out of the question." The nurse's sweet, approachable demeanor abruptly transformed into one of more authority, her soft blonde curls and angelic features suddenly seeming very out of place.
This was going to be harder than I thought.
"Just one day, for Christmas," I pleaded, locking eyes with her.
"Christmas?"
I nodded and she pursed her lips, crossing her arms.
"You've got one minute to convince me. Go."
"Well," I began, taking a deep breath, "she won't be far, just downstairs in the community room, and there can be a nurse or doctor or someone keeping an eye on her too if you like. It's just there's not allowed more than two people in her room at a time, and I know she'd much rather be watched and get to spend time with her family and friends and boyfriend than be free and lying in a hospital bed dying of boredom. The reason she's here is because she felt alone and she got depressed, so I want to surround her with as many people as possible. Make her feel how loved she is. I just want us all together for Christmas, is that too much to ask?"
I drew breath and watched her nibble at her lip, considering my heartfelt reply.
"Alright," she said eventually, "But only because I think that's the sweetest reasoning I've ever heard for anything ever."
I beamed up at the kind nurse.
Our plans for Christmas were secured.
