Allison walked me deeper into the woods and after a while she said "I can't believe it's still here."
I looked around for what she was talking about until I saw a yellow car,it was old, rusty and had clearly suffered in a crash. We sat down on the car bonnet in identical positions.
"So,you and Cameron finally together then?" I said, figuring I might as well get straight to the point.
"Me and Cameron indeed." She said smiling up at the sky dotted with stars.
"Cameron and I" I corrected "and are you going to elaborate?"
"No I was just gonna leave you wondering." She said, I thought she was joking until the silence continued for a few minutes and then I pinched her side and wailed "duuuuddeee" at her.
"Alright alright, chill" she said laughing. "Remember Mays party? Of course you do, I forgot sorry. Anyway, when you walked off I forced Matt to tell me what he'd said, he'd only just finished when you slapped Nash- good on you girl,by the way, I forgot to say that before- anyway, you left and I didn't follow because Cam told me you needed time to calm down. So, I listened to him. He made it seem logical. Anyway, ever since his party, I felt like he'd finally noticed me, even though he was drunk, it sounds stupid I know, but then he came to apologise and he was super sweet and he told me that he'd always thought that way and that he thought his drunk was had just given him the confidence to say it, obviously I turned into a stupid teen and flirted like crazy and he left pretty fast, I thought I'd messed up but he kissed me on the cheek before he headed home." She took a breath, "back to Mahogany's party. So, you'd left and I was too stressed to have a good time to I went to leave and he followed me. We walked down to that little kiddie park, you know? The one where Max plays? Well, there were no kids there for some reason and I was just swinging and talking to him about rubbish really, when he suddenly turned super serious,he stopped my swing from swinging and looked me in the eyes. I know that it sounds super cringe-worthy when I'm trying to say it but trust me,it was cute, as I was saying he was looking at me all intense and everything and he asked if I was okay, I told him how worried I was about you and things and he convinced me it would all work out fine and I actually believed him. I thought he was going to kiss me right then and boy was I ready, but just at the perfect moment he pulled away and said something about needing to go home. So, of course being me, I got super annoyed at him, I started yelling that he should just leave and I didn't know why he even bothered following me in the first place and then just as I was I'm the middle of a sentence he kissed me, it was like in the movies when they kiss you to shut you up, it was wonderful and great and perfect." She giggled and continued "after, he told me that he wanted to kiss me on the swing but he didn't think a girl like me would want to kiss him but when I was yelling at him he couldn't help himself because he thought I was prettiest when I was talking about something I believed in passionately, he told me I was the most beautiful girl he'd ever met, and not just my looks, I told him about how long I'd liked him and how he was such an idiot for not kissing me sooner, we walked home hand in hand and found Matt outside my house waiting for us, that's when we went to yours and we've been together ever since." She said happily. I felt my heart swell out of joy for the wonderful girl beside me. She was like a sister to me and I loved her with all my heart, nothing could replace the joy I felt to see her this beautifully happy and in love.
However, it also made me feel a little sad and I felt a tiny pang of jealously towards her perfect relationship. She seemed to notice my quietness.
"What are you thinking?" She asked.
"I'm just so happy for you and I can't believe how well things have turned out, I always knew you two would end up together." I smiled and took her hand in mine, squeezing it and trying to push my happiness for her into her body to show her how much I meant it.
"Your not lying but your not telling the complete truth" she narrowed her eyes at me, sometimes I despised how well she knew me, "what is it Aimee?"
"I don't know,I guess I just wish things would work out between me and Nash like it has with you and Cam" I confessed.
"Nash and I," she corrected with a smirk, "and it will, I know it, he likes you more than you can see." She have my hand a reassuring squeeze. "Did you know that he hasn't dated anyone for like 3 years? And he's never showed any interest in anyone until you, it's probably your accent and your annoyingly beautiful hair." She sighed dramatically.
"Pfft, compared you, I probably look about as attractive as a tortoise." I said completely serious.
She looked at me and then laughed harder than I've ever heard her laugh before.
"What the - hell - Ame-lia" she said between her hysterical laughter, "a tortoise, seriously?!" She was clutching her stomach and gasping for breath. I couldn't help but join in. After nearly ten minutes of continuously making each other laugh we wiped away the tears that had rolled down our cheeks and held our breath to try stop the hiccups. It didn't work, and we ended up laughing in the process.
"I love you Allison." I said taking her hat and putting it on my head as we headed back to camp.
"I love you too Amelia." She replied snatching the hat back of my head and adjusting it back onto her own with a triumphant smile on her lips. We both giggled and trudged back through the woods, our fingers still locked together in friendship.
