"So, what's your favourite colour?" I asked him, stupid question I know, I couldn't think of anything else fast enough.
"I don't know honestly, all the colours are pretty great, I wish I could just bundle them all together and then that would be my favourite." He told me, sounding very deep and blowing me away with such an intricate reply, I'm gonna suck at this game, I would've probably just said a colour and be done with it. "What about you?"
Oh of course he would ask that, obviously I know what my favourite colour is, but I'm going to sounds pathetic if I just say it. So, I did the worse thing I could do and explained in way too much detail why I liked my favourite colour and I wouldn't be surprised if I finished to find my hand empty and the scenery clear of the young Grier boy. Or maybe I'm just being dramatic. "I've always liked orange, but not the ugly luminous orange that was man-made and makes you feel like your eyes are bleeding, but the sunset orange, I'm not sure why exactly, maybe because it signals the end and begin of the day, I just seemed exotic and out of reach and that's always intrigued me." I finished, looking up at the sky, then I thought about what is just said and my face grew hot.
"I change my mind, I like orange too." Said Nash, sounding impressed.
I smiled, still not looking at him as I did. "Hey man, you can't steal my colour, you have to think of your own." I mocked.
"Well, pick for me and persuade me to love it, just like you did with orange." His voice had turned serious and I finally looked over at him. Nash stopped walking, and we stood there looking at each other for a moment. "I love that you can do that, you think so deeply, your mind is so beautifully unique that everyone around you is engulfed by it and forced to see the world through your eyes. Amelia, you are so beautiful." I didn't know if he meant my mind or just in general and I didn't care, I was too busy memorising every inch of his face when he bent down as if to kiss me, our noses just touched. Then very hesitantly, giving me chance to pull back, he kissed me so gently I wasn't even sure it had happened, then he kissed me again, with more confidence this time. I hadn't realised before just how much of an exceptionally good kisser he was.
When he finally pulled away, I was completely breathless. He leant his forehead against mine and pushed a strand of hair behind my ear.
"We've got to go, they'll be wondering where we are otherwise." I poured at his words, but I knew he was right. He smiled his wonderful smile and took my hand once more, leading me towards our homes.
