"Stay here, be quiet," Joe says to us, putting the tea towel down and walking to the front door as Sadie's brother steps out of his car. We all watched as Joe walked out and Sadie's brother approach him.

"What's his name?" I quietly whisper to Sadie.

"Jax." She breathes out.

"Am I dreaming, or is that you, Keery." Jax says to Joe with a cigarette between his lips.

"Yeah it's me," Joe says, hands on his hips sassily. "Don't cream your pants." Jax slams his car door closed and throws his jacket through the open window before asking.

"What are you doing here, amigo?"

"I could ask you the same thing," Joe says to the boy walking closer. "Amigo."

"Looking for my stepsister," Jax answers. "a little birdie told me she was here."

"He looks like he's the kinda guy who'd fuck anything that moves." I whisper, making Sadie chuckle and nod in agreement.

"Huh, that's weird, I don't know her." Jax puts his hands up with two fingers, indicating something small.

"Small? Redhead? Bit of a bitch." Jax says, hearing him say that made me want to beat him up for some reason. I know I barely know Sadie but she is definitely not a bitch.

"Doesn't ring a bell. Sorry buddy." Joe says

Jax takes the cigarette from between his lips and looks down for a moment as he sighs, "You know, I don't know, this..." Jax clicks his tongue. "This whole situation, Keery, I don't know, it's giving me the heebie - jeebies."

"Oh yeah? Why's that?"

"My 13 year old step sister goes missing for a whole day. And then I find her with you, in a strangers house. And you lie to me about it," Jax says, taking a drag form his cigarette.

"Man, were you dropped too much as a child or what?" Joe chuckles watching Jax puff smoke into his face. "I don't know what you don't understand about what I just said. She's not here."

"Then who's that?" As soon as Jax said that he looked over to where we were all peering through the window. We all ducked down, Gaten practically falling into me making me cry out in pain.

"Shit!" I scream out glaring at Gaten. However Gaten didn't even notice, more focused on Jax outside.

"Did he see us?" Gaten says as if there was still a slight chance we didn't just blow our cover.

"Yeah, no shit!" I hiss as I get off the sofa and stagger over to the couch on the other side of the room. I lean against the wall to stay up right as my breathing increases. I don't know who this guy is but if Sadie is scared of him then he must be bad.

"Calm down," Sadie says, helping me stand up, taking my hand. "It's gonna be fine, We're gonna be-" Before Sadie can finish her sentence Jax slams the door open, staring at me and Sadie holding hands. I could already tell he was a homophobic piece of shit even though i'm not gay. You could see that the thought of two of the same gender holding hands- especially his younger sister, he would think that was wrong.
