Maths had never felt so useless and boring for Grizz. Maybe being sent in another universe had this effect on things ; everything mundane and unecessary was suddenly boring to death.

Grizz was deeply in his thoughts when he felt really self-conscious. He glanced up and everybody was looking at him. Fortunately he had maths with Jason and Sam. He quickly shot his friend a panicked look. The latter just raised his shoulders, unable to help his friend without raising suspicion.

"I'm still waiting for the answer, Mr.Visser." the teacher said eagerly.

"Hum...Sorry, I wasn't focused. What was the question again ?" Grizz asked apologetically.

"You've been dissipated since class started, Mr.Visser. As one of my best students, I'm greatly disappointed by this kind of behavior." the man stated.

"I'm really sorry, Mr.Laurence. It won't happen again." Grizz mumbled an apology.

"I sure hope so." the maths teacher said, before returning to his seat.

"Well, we're done for the day but there's still some time left so, I'll leave you to your free studying." he finished, opening his laptop.

"You okay, buddy ?" Jason asked Grizz worriedly.

"Y..Yeah, just thinking." he said, trying to regain his composure.

"What's on your mind ?" his friend asked him.

"I'm thinking about this whole mess with my mom. I don't know... I don't understand how she can know about Logan and I if she just reappeared a few months ago." he said.

"Are you sure she knows about what really happened ? Maybe she only knows about the beatings, I don't really know how she could know about that too but it seems more understandable ; everyone in town knew how violent Logan could be." Jason replied.

"I think she knows about what truely happened. After Logan r..rubbed himself against me, I really freaked out and ran to the bathroom to throw up. I didn't really register what was happening but it was almost like she didn't even react, like it was something she was expecting." Grizz whispered, feeling cold sweat on his back.

"Yeah, that's really weird... Maybe she found the tapes and therefore knows about what happened..." Jason suggested, hating himself for saying that Ellen had seen those awful videos.

"Maybe... I'll look for the tapes tonight, see if they're still here. But it still doesn't make any sense." Grizz said.

"What doesn't?"

"Well, it's really weird cause the first time I saw her, this morning, she was really sweet and kind, exactly the caring mother I remembered. But when I said I didn't want to see my dad at the hospital, she suddenly turned very cold and aggressive. And since that moment she has been not only mean and insulting but also very cruel to me. When I panicked because of Logan, she told me to stop making a fool of myself or to seek attention." Grizz replied.

"What caused this sudden change ?" Jason asked.

"I don't really know, but as soon as Logan came up, she's been offensive. Even when the nurse tried to help me through my panic attack at the hospital, she just grabbed my arm and forced me in the car. She even yelled at me when we arrived at school." Grizz confessed shamefully.

"Now that you mention it, when we were looking for you during lunch, Luke called her from the principal's office and she seemed really angry and aggressive." Jason said, thinking.

"Something must have happened for her to suddenly hate me so much, she wasn't like that when I was younger." Grizz told his friend.

"I'm sure she doesn't hate you, Grizz."
