The week went unusually fast and before I knew it, it was Wednesday, the day of the trip. I woke up bright and early and got ready although there wasn't much to be done. I got dressed had breakfast and did my hair and makeup. I wore ripped jeans, a white top and a black leather jacket. That should impress Hunter I thought.
Micky came over a few hours before I had to leave, to say goodbye. We sat at the kitchen counter drinking our lattes as we talked. He gave me news about Kai. He was getting physically better fast but he missed me. I hadn't gone to see him. I know I should have, but I couldn't bring myself to do it and Hunter was on my tail 24/7.
Before I knew it, my doorbell rang. I looked through the door hole and saw Hunter standing and waiting. I instantly opened the door. Hunter came in holding his suitcase. He looked really smart. He had a white shirt on and jeans which was unusual for him. Micky came to greet him. Hunter walked up to him with his hand extended expecting a shake.
Micky on the other hand completely changed. His friendly personality turned towards disgust. He looked up and down at Hunter with his dangling hand. His eyes looked flat and dead. His teeth were gritting together trying to hold in the anger. His lip began to curl but he controlled himself. Hunter chuckled embarrassed and awkwardly put his hand back to his side.
"Do take good care of her. If anything were to happen to her-" he sternly said.
Hunter cut him off. "Don't worry Sir, she will be in good hands."
"I can take care of myself you two." I giggled and kissed Micky cheek. "Goodbye Micky.."
"Goodbye dear..." he replied.
I grabbed my own suitcase and I walked out of the house with Hunter hand in hand.
As we got into the car, I asked "Can we go make a quick stop at the hospital. There's someone I need to see..." I needed to see him before I left, I couldn't hurt him anymore. Hunter looked at me in confusion but nodded.
When we arrived at the hospital not long after, I asked Hunter to stay in the parking area and that I would be back soon. He looked unsettled but agreed. "Sure, be fast, we don't have much time."
I quickly rushed into the hospital with my stomach in knots and asked the receptionist for Kai's room. "Number 206, on the 2nd floor miss."
"Thank you!" I hurriedly replied and ran off.

I approached the white isolated door with caution and with a deep breath I pushed on the door handle and it walked in. The room was silent. Only the click clack of my heels could be heard along with the beeping monitors. Kai lay in a grey hoodie facing towards the window and away from the door.
"Kai?"
He turned around immediately and when he saw it was me, a slight smile appeared on his face. His eyes looked sad and his face was paler than usual. He looked worn down...
"Alexa... You're here. Finally..." he answered with a sad but relieved tone. I approached his bed and sat down at the side.
"I'm so sorry. I've got no proper excuse for not visiting. How are you?"
"Why're you here..now then?"
"I needed to say goodbye, I'm going away for a while, to Italy-"
"With Hunter I presume..?" He sighed with a painful look in his eyes. I nodded. "Chief doesn't tell me anything..."
"It's for your own good, less stress. Don't worry about me, Hunter will protect me."
"Try not to get him shot too. You know what? Forget it, he should get shot for all I care!"
"W-what..?"
He erupted in anger. "I almost died trying to save you! I risked my life for you! And you couldn't even bother to visit me, you're too busy with him!! I was trying to get better to be with you again, back on the mission. And you know what? I'm still going to get better and help you, even after everything! Cause I like you Alexa! Hell, I think even love you! Can you explain this?!" He shouted and a tear squeezed through his eyes, and rolled down his red hot face. He gritted his teeth. "Leave."

And I did, I got up and walked out of his room, slamming the door behind me. I felt hurt, confused and most of all guilty. Tears were in my eyes as I stormed down the stairs and past the reception. I met Hunter at the front door. He was walking towards me.
"You took a while, I got worried! Are you, okay?"
"Yes I am." I replied strongly and wrapped my arms around him tightly. I don't know why I did that, for comfort, as a rebound? I need to get anger out that's for sure. Hunter was taken aback by my impulsive, out of no where action. He slowly pulled me back. "As much as I like this, we're going to be late Lex." I grabbed his hand and walked out the door, leaving all of those gawking faces in the hospital.

The ride to the airport was quick. Hunter was speeding to make it for the flight and he was quite quiet. While I was secretly a cop, I couldn't just stop him. We jumped out of the car, which he didn't even park properly. Hunter looked at my concerned face.
"My team will take care of it." He said shrugging it off. How many laws has he broken I wondered as I sighed.
We rushed through security. I admit I was terrified at security. I had a feeling Hunter would be recognisable to them, considering his background but they let us through with no questions. We made it just in time! We relaxed and took a breather when we boarded the plane. I was exhausted. What a day, and it was just the start. I had to spend around 13 hours sitting next to him on the plane. Luckily I had the window seat. I stared out from the plane window, looking at the landscape as we began to take off. The people, cars and buildings got smaller and smaller until they weren't visible at all above the clouds. I ignored the ringing in my ears and just focused on the white snow like clouds. It was at this moment that I felt safe, yet lonely...
