Continuation of Mary & Rose - II
Upon arrival at the Tyler's residence, the two women were greeted by Jackie throwing her arms around both of them simultaneous, eyes red and brimming with tears, alerting them that the new of Hendrick's having blown up was already on the television, "Thank god you're both alive." Jackie praised, cupping each of their faces and kissing both their cheeks.
"Mum we're okay." Rose attempts to input, but her attempt when down the drain as Jackie pulled them both inside, straight into the living room and onto the couch. "I've been worried sick about you too, I tried calling you, both of you, neither of you picked up." Jackie ranted, sending a small glare their way.
"Jackie, I'm a security guard my phone has to be on silent." Mary reminded, rolling her brown eyes at the older woman who smack her covered arm in a motherly way, "What would your mother say if she were here?" Jackie reprimanded, scoffing into the air as she walked to the kitchen to make fresh warm tea.
Mary inhaled deeply at her rhetorical question and allowed her shoulders to sag when she breathed out, "Mom's only like that cause she cares." Rose reminded softly, her blue eyes locking on Mary's figure as she absentmindedly played with her bag, "I know, that's why I don't take it to heart." Mary smiled in return, showing that she wasn't indeed angered by this fussing.
"You holding up okay?" The older of the two couldn't help but question, reaching over to stop Rose's fidgeting by holding her hands, "I'm fine, just...." She began, her brows furrowing slightly as she attempted to think of the correct word to say regarding the situation.
"Thank you for making sure nothing happened to me." The blonde said instead, giving the brunette a small smile that had the older woman pull her into a tight hug, unfortunately, their moment is interrupted by Jackie returning, her head leaning against her shoulder, clearly holding the phone while she holds two mugs, steam coming off them. "I know, it's on the telly! It's everywhere! They're lucky to be alive!" She claims into the phone.
She carefully places the mugs in both girl's hands and stands back up, grabbing the phone from her shoulder and holding it normally, "Honestly, it's aged Rose. Skin like an old bible. Walking in now you'd think I was her daughter!" Rose shot her mother an impassive look as she began to walk back to the kitchen when the apartment door slammed shut, "Oh and here's himself..." Jackie mutters.
Mickey Smith, Rose's boyfriend, appeared in the doorway, stumbling forward towards the couch in which the tow sat down "I've been phoning your mobile, you could've been dead! It's on the news and everything! I can't believe that your shop went up!" Mickey ranted, wrapping his arms around his girlfriend, slipping into the seat that Mary stood up to give him.
"I'm alright, honestly, I'm fine! Don't make a fuss." Rose complained, tearing her eyes from him and moving them to her mug, "Well, what happened?" the dark-skinned man with a short hairstyle quizzed, his brown eyes moving from one woman to another. Rose shrugged at him and Mary merely ignored him in favour of walking to the window and peeking outside. "Do you know what caused it?" he pressed.
It wasn't that he was attempting to be rude, he was genuinely concerned about the two women and was curious, as was everyone currently watching the news, "We weren't in the shop, we were already on the other side of the street when it blew up." Mary half lied, turning around at the couple and bringing her mug to her lips, tending to her warm beverage.
"Debbie's on the other end, she knows a man from the Mirror. Five hundred quid for an interview!" Jackie informed rather loudly, gingerly ignoring the nasty glare the blonde sent her, indicating that she wanted nothing to do with interviews. "Oh that's brilliant! Give it here!" the blonde orders, her tone cloaked with sarcasm.
Jackie hands her daughter the phone and everyone watched as ended the call and slammed the phone on the coffee table, "Well, you've gotta find some way of making money. Your jobs kaput and I'm not bailing you out." Jackie reprimanded, "Jackie, lay off us for the night. We nearly did just die." Mary smiled softly, her smile was warm and it made Jackie instantly melt at the sight of it.
