Continuation of Mary & Rose - V
Mary yanked her ruined sweater off her body and pulled on a demin jacket in record time before she dragged Rose out of their apartment and down the stairs as she followed the Doctor, "Mary that thing just tried to kill me. To kill you." Rose stated breathlessly and confused, her blue eyes locked on Mary's figure.
"It did." Mary agreed, smiling softly at the girl, "Then why does he still hold it, why is he walking away with it? Where are you taking me?" Rose questioned, her voice getting louder and more shrill by the second, annoyance clear on her face. Mary looked at her as she kept walking, as if she had the route of the stairs completely memorized, her smile had faded and all she could do was stare at the blonde.
"Do you trust me?" She questioned the blonde, her voice serious and her eyes glistening with unknown emotion, "Cause I know this is all weird and I know that everything is confusing. But I need you to trust me, can you do that?" Rose stared at her in return, allowing her body to sync up with Mary's as they walked down the stairs, "I trust you." Rose said the second they reached the ground floor, watching as Mary moved her eyes away from her and towards the man that was running away from them, the look in her eyes telling the blonde that the darker-skinned woman knew something about the man that she didn't.
"Are you the police?" Rose questioned when they were close enough that they didn't need to shout, "No, I'm just passing by. I'm a long way from home." The Doctor replied, looking over his shoulder at the two women, "Did you run away from home?" Rose pressed, holding Mary's hand tightly in hers while she talked, not allowing the older woman to drop it.
Mary took the chance that Rose was asking questions to look at the man properly, he was just like any other man that one would see on the streets, well minus the leather jacket, the way he spoke told her that he wasn't from around but the way he saved them the previous night and just moments prior told her that he cared about people's well beings.
She could tell that Rose's questions touched a sensitive subject as his lips turned down and his eyes flew up to the sky, but still he replied softly "You could say that." Rose stopped her questions and peered over to Mary, her face stating that she felt bad that she had made the strange new man sad without meaning to.
The trio walked in silence for a few more moments before Mary questioned "In how much danger are we? The human race?" her choice of words made both people that were with her frown but keep walking, "Is whatever was controlling that arm attempting to kill all of us?" The Doctor nodded at her and waved the arm saying "This was being controlled by thought command, cutting the connection rendered it useless but hopefully I can triangulate the source with it turned off."
He looked at the two women once more before continuing "And yes, they are trying to kill and take over the human race, every single alien species that you've come in contact with since the dawn of time has tried to take over the planet." Rose gaps and stops completely, forcing the brunette to stop walking with her, the Doctor stopping a few feet away from them.
Silence surrounded the trio that had walked a good while from their apartment block, "Are you alien?" Rose questioned quietly, dropping Mary's hand to wrap her arms around herself in fear of the reply, Mary looked away from the two while the Doctor nodded and began to talk, her brown eyes catching the sight of a blue police box around the corner of the street, a strange sight considering there were no police boxes in England, only red telephone boxes.
"Do you know like we were saying? About the Earth revolving?" he walked closer to the two, his blue eyes flicking from Rose to Mary then back to Rose, "It's like when you were a kid. The first time they tell you the world's turning and you just can't quite believe it because everything looks like it's standing still. I can feel it." He then gently grabs Mary's hand, bringing her attention to him, watching as he laced their fingers together almost like he had held her hand a million times prior, and extended his other hand to the blonde, who hesitantly grabbed it.
"The turn of the Earth. The ground beneath our feet is spinning at a thousand miles an hour, and the entire planet is hurtling around the sun at sixty-seven thousand miles an hour, and I can feel it. We're falling through space, you and me. Clinging to the skin of this tiny little world, and if we let go..." he ranted, closing his eyes until he trailed off and dropped Rose's hand.
Rose looked disorientated as she stared at the Doctor, her chest slightly heaving making her feel as if she had run a marathon in half a minute, "That's who I am. Now, forget me, Rose Tyler. Go home." He tells her after a moment of silence, waving the plastic arm, he had placed under his arm, at her and stalked off leaving behind a confused blonde, who frowned at him before slowly turning around to walk back the way they had come.
The Doctor walked to a blue police box, unlocked it with a key and stepped inside, walking up a ramp and placing the arm on what looked like a complicated console. "And when do you plan on letting go of my hand?" Mary's voice questioned.
