Continuation of Mary & Rose - VII
"Don't laugh at me." The Doctor muttered under his breath, his eyes not once leaving the console, and for that he missed the look of fascination that etched on Mary's features, her smirk fell to a soft smile as her brown eyes flew to the center of the console where a tube shun blue. "It has a conscious..." she breathed out amazed.
"I didn't mean to kidnap her, I didn't even realize I was still holding her hand." The Doctor continued, all but dashing to the other side of the console and messing around with it, the space ship hummed again, longer this time and the Doctor replied by huffing under his breath and muttering something that Mary didn't hear.
"You are truly a beaut." the woman whispered, gently placing her hands on the sides of the console, "Please don't touch anything, I'm trying to direct us back to Earth." The Doctor claimed softly, almost cringing as he continued "You were right, we were already halfway into another galaxy."
Mary snorted lowly and stepped back, walking over to the railings that surrounded the console room and leaning against them, her hands grabbing it gently just in case he decided to jerk them the opposite way without warning.
A star, inside me.
A whimsical voice claimed, so softly that it nearly felt like it was just a trick of the mind, well to anyone but Mary, shock did flash through her but it quickly dissipated when the Doctor didn't raise his head at the whimsical voice's words.
Why are you here star? Why are you so far home?
The voice sounded concerned so concerned that Mary couldn't help but reply under her breath, knowing fully well that the spaceship could hear her. "Same as you, running."
It was moments later that the Doctor stood up straight and looked over at Mary, his blue eyes locking on her figure, assessing her for any injuries, not that she would have any, before claiming "We are back on Earth. I have scanned the integrity of London for any active plastics like the arm."
Slowly but surely Mary turned her eyes back to him and rose a brow, waiting for him to finished, knowing fully well that he was not done, especially since he had a grin on his lips that made him look like a child on Christmas day when he's told he has more presents. "It's in a restaurant." he finished.
Mary rolled her eyes at him and let go of the railing so she could cross her arms, "And let me guess, you're going to kidnap it and track it to the source?" her voice held clear amusement, something that the Doctor detected instantly, causing him to nod at her. "Want me to tag along?" she questioned, rising her brow at him.
The Doctor shook his head, his grin falling from his face in half a second as a serious mask covered his features, "It's not that it's dangerous," he quickly defended, trying to sound like he didn't think that this kidnapping could go one of two ways, "It's just that it will be quick, like popping in, grabbing the plastic and coming back. No need for you to leave the TARDIS."
Mary simple shook her head at him and watched as he dashed out of the spaceship, the TARDIS, leaving her behind without a second thought. That was until he popped his head back in and ordered in a serious tone with a serious face "Don't touch anything." and leaving again.
"The Doctor cannot know." She said in a normal tone out loud, knowing that the Doctor was not lurking outside or eavesdropping, "I do not wish for him to know." she continued, uncrossing her arms and grabbing the railing once more.
Of course star, your wish is my command.
"I do not command anything. I'm just an ordinary woman." Mary chuckled, shaking her head at the TARDIS's choice of words, knowing fully well that it was just messing with her. "And call me Mary, it's my name."
You are more than just an ordinary woman star.
A laughed escaped Mary's lips as she looked down at her feet, "What does the Doctor call you?" she inquired, curious as to what she could address the TARDIS as, lifting her head to look at the blue tube in the middle of the console.
My thief calls me many names, in many tongues.
Many of whom are strange to the human ear.
Mary's brow rose on it's own accord, a smirk growing on her lips simultaneously. The information that the Doctor had stolen the TARDIS being something that she could absolutely see him doing. "May I name you, a name only for me." she requested kindly.
Of course star.
"Precious." Mary instantly replied, smiling as she felt the TARDIS vibrate under her feet as it hummed. Curiosity in general seemed to get the best of Mary because her sincere smile turned into one that the TARDIS had seen many times before on the many faces of the Doctor, it was a giddy childish one, one that could have matched the Doctor's earlier smile.
Mary pushed herself way from the railing, letting go of it and stepped closer to the console, raising her hands and letting them hover just above the console, before she asked "May I?" the request so innocent and childlike, but simultaneously so pleading and filled with naive curiosity.
You may my star.
