Chapter 24

Emma’s POV

It was officially Monday, the dreaded first day of school.

But, as of yesterday, I was officially sixteen.

I showered and dried off, including my hair, before wrapping a towel around me and walking towards my closet.

I didn’t want to dress too formal, but I didn’t want to go to casual either.

I decided on going in between. I slid into a pair of light wash skinny jeans, and a baggy tan striped sweater, matched with my favorite pair of converse, a beanie and a light pink scarf.

I straightened my hair and lightly coated my face with foundation, a light coat of eye shadow, some eyeliner and some mascara. Oh, a lip gloss, can’t forget the lip gloss.

I walked into the kitchen and prepared two omelets, one for me, and one for Louis.

The other lads weren’t back, but they would all be back by the time I got home from school, including Niall. And no, not by helicopter.

The storm and let up enough that the airlines were up and running once again.

I poured a glass of orange juice and placed it next to Louis’s omelet, before scribbling a small note.

I ran up to Louis’s room and knocked on the door before entering.

“Louis, I need to go to school.” I whispered, shaking him lightly. Only to be met by loud snores.
“Louis?”

I rolled my eyes and yelled as loud as my lungs would allow. “LOUIS!”

His eyes opened wide and he fell from the bed, and I rolled my eyes once more.

“It’s seven thirty, school starts at eight.”

His eyes widened again and he jumped up. He pulled on a pair of jeans from the floor over his boxers, before picking up a random shirt and smelling it. He scrunched his nose and shrugged, before putting it on. He put on some shoes, forgetting his socks, and ran down the stairs.

I slowly walked out the door and slid into the passenger seat, and he sat beside me. He started the car and pulled out, still blinking the sleepy from his eyes.

We pulled into the parking lot and I turned to face him, sucking in a big breath. “So, any words of advice?”

He kissed my forehead and smiled.

“Be you.”

I was looking at the paper in my hands as I blinding trailed down the hall. I wasn’t paying attention to the person in front of me, who was obviously doing the same, because my head collided with theirs.

“Ouch.” I mumbled

“Oooh.” The girl replied, rubbing her head.

“Sorry, I wasn’t looking.” We spoke at the same time. We both smiled before speaking again “Sorry I-“

I closed my mouth and motioned for her to continue.

“Sorry about that, I wasn’t paying attention. I’m Lacey, Lacey Nix.” She stuck her hand out for me to shake and I gladly took it, while taking in her appearance. She had long brown hair that was in tight curls all around her head, she was about 5’7, and she was wearing a pair of shredded skinny jeans, a blank tank with a large black and white tribal print sweater shrugged over it. She didn’t wear makeup, and had an athletic build.

“I’m Emma, Emma Tomlinson.” I shook her hand.

“Is this your first day?” She asked, picking up my bag and handing it to me, as I did the same for her.

I nodded “Yes.”

“Mine too.”

“You nervous?” I asked, as we walked back down the hall.

“Heck yes, have you seen these guys? They are insanely hot!” She gushed. As if to make her point a boy walked by. He had shaggy brown hair and flawless features, complemented by large brown eyes.

“I think I’m liking this school already.” I laughed.

“Oh girl, you haven’t seen nothing yet.”
