Melody

After working on the assignment on the bleachers I walked home. As I approached my house I stopped feeling my whole body go numb. It's Friday. I saw the van parked in the driveway and I could hear some laughter in the distance. All good moments are followed by bad ones I reminded myself taking a deep breath before entering my house. Fearful I walked inside, "Melody", my mom said looking at me. Suddenly I was the center of attention of the whole room. After what seemed like forever my dad lit a cigarette and said "there's some dishes to clean in the sink" "right" I responded and walked over to the kitchen to clean it up before they could say anything more. I cleaned the dishes fast and raced to my room. I closed the door I could hear them starting to drink and I knew that Derek and Lisa would probably be back to have a "celebration" for completing yet again another tour. I turned on the radio and climbed out the window. If I just sit by the pond till they're passed out in the living room I can go through one more night unscathed. I sat on the bench not realizing that I was starting to doze off. The next thing I remember was hearing Kaisers voice. "Melody? Melody wake up" he said, "what are you doing here?" I said sitting up "what time is it?" I added. "Why are you sleeping on a bench at 3am?" He said worriedly. "Just passing time" I responded sleepily. "What are you doing here?" I asked again more awake now. "I couldn't sleep" he said, "Oh" I responded and we sat in silence.
