Formerly named Deserving, title changed to Queen
A tribute to a 3 poem piece that I am currently writing to submit to a magical realism anthology!
Wish me luck!
*Update: I was not accepted for this anthology back in 2020 lol*
Every Queen deserves the very best!
There's an internal royal crest
Embroidered upon her fragile soul.
Right past her sprouting bosom,
There's an innocent heart forged from
The purest adamantine and the softest of golds.
As often taught when precious and young,
She patiently
Awaits her daring knight in
Shining platinum armor.
Fantasies of civil freedom haunt her.
The timeless courting balls and moonlit dances
Taunt her for so much more
Than she feels her betrothed prince could ever offer.
Gracious proposals shouldn't be refused!
Right?
She is a perused scholar.
Fighting the urge to staunchly refuse
To be saved by [the likes of] anyone.
For the time to be courageously enthused
To become one's own savior
Has promptly arisen.
No more misogynistic prisons
Disguised as opportunistic
Mysticism with
No [chance(s) of] escape.
It's as if a clueless society feels as if a pure 'delicate princess'
Isn't capable of succeeding in protecting herself;
Or thus, fairly ruling over others.
She's shamelessly smothered with outdated customs from the time of birth by
Prestigious nobility, Royal advisors, Aristocratic lineage and those who wish
To "protect" her royal blood and that of the
Future heirs to the nonlinear line.
The elected masters attempt to expertly
Instruct, deduct, and harshly judge,
Enforce senseless etiquette and
Endless pompous rules of supposed diplomacy.
Foolishly, they promise these birthright tools
Will surely attract her sworn protector.
In her sheltered adolescence, she transitions
Into a rogue yet unnoticed deflector, fleeing for the right
To live her life the way she sees fit.
She feels she should be trusted.
Her controlled attitude becomes amiss and astray.
The developing plot twist?
It is never one everyone expects.
The water's reflection is murky at first
And becomes clearer with each
Painful yet mandatory lesson.
Before too long,
It's bitterly refreshing to her to finally
Be able to learn and embrace
Her peerless destiny.
Who she was, who she is, and who she intends to become!
Her prophesied handsome hero
Either never comes
To the desperately failed rescue,
Or would had been a facade all along...
Leading to a villainous escrow
Agreement of the worst type.
The infatuation hype of romantic passion
Almost always fades away.
And then its stench
Brings in the shade of
True imperialism.
Silky metallic hues of royal sapphire,
Rich mahogany and deep maroon,
Are the unmistakable colors of
Pure regal blood.
No different from any other [person/culture].
From the beginning of her life until
The end of the strife to reign.
The blue fades to black.
A royal woman's life.
A normal woman's life.
Are both or neither intact?
