Once by the Atlantic,
I sat there watching and waiting
On my long lost love.
I let my hair loose and wishing the truth
Would come flooding towards this cove.
There by the Atlantic,
I felt the soft breeze
And watched the gulls fly high.
I was wishing my love would return to me
In a ship floating nearby.
Once by the Atlantic,
I watched and waited, glaring at the approaching storm.
I placed my feet into the water
That appeared unexpectedly to be warm.
There by the Atlantic,
I squinted and saw
A ship tossing in the sea.
If it were my love and he were to die
I'd wish to God it were me.
Here by the Atlantic,
I stood and watched,
My heart beating so fast.
The ship sails closer
And I ponder my love and me together in the past.
