24. Jungkook: Lab Coats and Vocal Rest

Taehyung's POV

I am playing video games with Jungkook. And something seems off. He has a scratch, rough tone to his voice and it sounds painful. I have looked over and seen him wincing but he doesn't say anything. I feel like he just has a sore throat due to the fact that we have our comeback in a month and this is our first day off in two weeks straight. We have been doing a lot of vocal practice and recording. I see Jin cooking in the kitchen and I believe the three rappers are at the studio, but I am not quite sure where our third fellow maknae liners is. I get up as we finish the round that we were on and walk into the kitchen.

"Hyung, where is Jimin?" I ask and then I suddenly hear a loud painful cough. I turn to see Jimin holding up a now shaky looking Jungkook.

"Jungkook are you alright?" Jin asks, running over with a glass of water. Jungkook took the glass and took a sip of the water timidly. What is going on with him? Just as he goes to swallow, he winces and starts coughing again.

"Hyung he has a fever, I can feel it." Jimin tells Jin and Jin looks concerned as he rests the back of his hand on Jungkook's forehead. He now winces and pulls his hand away.

"Kookie are you not feeling well?" Jin asked and Jungkook shook his head.
"What's wrong baby, what doesn't feel good?" Jin asked and Jungkook stood up a little straighter.

"My throat hurts, it hurts to swallow and I have a headache and I just altogether don't feel well." He whispers out in a raspy and tired voice.

"Well lets take your temperature and then I will use the flashlight to see the back of your throat because maybe you scratched it somehow." Jin says walking to the cabinet and grabbing the thermometer. After a minute and a half we hear the thermometer signify that it has the results.

"101.6, that's a little high, come and sit him down on the stool Jimin." Jin tells him and he nods and does as he was told. "Jungkook can you open your mouth please?" Jin asks and Jungkook does it and looks at the back of his throat with the flashlight in hand.

"What does it look like hyung?'' I ask and see Jimin trying to lean over and see which is what I'm doing.

"It looks red and swollen and like there are little bumps." Jin says as he turns the flashlight off and sets it down, he turns back to Jungkook. "How long have you been feeling unwell baby?" He asks and Jungkook sighs.

"Four days, but this is the worst it's been." He answers causing us all to look at him in shock.

Jin's POV

I am a little upset that Jungkook didn't say anything, but I guess there is nothing we can do about that right now I need to get him to a doctor.

"Jimin I am taking Jungkook to the doctor, please call the other three and ask Hoseok and Yoongi to come home and tell Namjoon I am going to pick him up from the studio so he can go with Kookie and I." I explain and he nods running out of the room phone in hand.

"What would you like me to do hyung?" Taehyung asks.
"Help me get Kookie down to the car please." I tell him and he nods and we each take a side and help Jungkook down to the car.

"Jungkook, why are you having a hard time walking?" I ask him and he sighs again.

"My body aches and that includes my legs." He whines out in response and I feel bad that I keep asking questions and making him talk. I buckle his seatbelt for him as we get ready to leave.

"Okay Tae, go back in the dorm and you and Jimin wait for Yoongi and Hobi." I tell him and he nods turning to head back into the building. He turns around before going through the door and waves and we wave back and then we leave. I am driving to the studio, when Jungkook coughs again and I hear him groan from the pain.

"It's okay Kookie, we are going to find out what's going on." I tell him as I pull into a parking spot in front of the studio and see Namjoon start walking out towards us. He gets in the car and I put the car in gear getting ready to head to the clinic.

Jungkook's POV

It hurts, everywhere, I tried my best to hide it and let it pass so I didn't bother anyone, but it got to be too much. I woke up this morning and knew it was more painful than it has been, but I was going to try and let it slide past. I played Video games with Taehyung to try and distract me, and it partially worked. I am now worried as I couldn't handle it anymore which led to everyone finding out and now I have to see a doctor. We are sitting in the waiting room, listening to hear my name, and I just want to get this over with.

"Jeon Jungkook." The nurse calls my name and I stand up.

"Do you want us to come with you?" Jin asks and I nod, and him and Namjoon stand up as well. We follow the nurse and she does the normal initial run down on requirements and then she leaves the room. We are sitting in silence when we hear a knock on the door and the doctor walks in.

"Okay Jungkook, I am going to look at your throat and then run some tests." He tells me and I nod and he looks in my throat and sees what Jin saw and then he goes and gets this really long looking Q-tip, and I feel myself shrink into myself. "Okay I am going to use this to swab the back of your throat and send it to the lab, because I believe you have strep throat." He tells us and I painfully gulp and Jin must have seen how nervous I was cause he came and grabbed my hand.

"It will be okay Kookie, it will be over before you know it." Jin tells me and I nod. I let the doctor do his test, gagging a little from the feeling of the swab and finally he is done and takes the swab that he put in a bag to the lab.

"Okay wait here the test should take a few minutes to run and get the results." The doctor said and the three of us nodded and he leaves. I lean into Jin who is still standing next to me and I close my eyes. After about 5 minutes the nurse comes back in.

"Your results say that you have strep throat so the doctor has prescribed some antibiotics and it is a highly contagious illness, so with you being in a group, if anyone else starts to feel ill please bring them in right away." She tells us with a small smile and we get ready to leave Namjoon called Yoongi and had himself put in speaker and told the others what we were told. I am also on vocal rest, so I can't do anymore prep for the comeback for a while. I am also surprised no one else got it.
