Herc POV

About a week ago, Hamilton, his family and John, left for harlem. I smiled thinking about what John and Alex may be doing. They could be-

Playing checkers with a hippo named jannet...

What am I talking about?! Sometimes I surprise myself with my own stupidity..

WHO WOULD NAME A HIPPO JANNET?!

My thoughts got interrupted by a hand tapping my shoulder. "Uh MiStEr, here tal Washington wants you in his tent ASAP"

I nodded and made my way over.

<time skip bc cornchips like George very much isn't that right t Jeff?>

"Mister Mulligan-" I saluted.

"As you know we are down a General and a hamilton." I nodded. What could Washington want?

"I'm asking you to take the lead young man..." excitement rang through my body. IM A GENERAL WEEEEEEE!! Wait. That sounded like lee. Nvm

Then a thought crossed me mind. Lafayette always wanted to be a General. "I would be honored but sir-"

"Great!! Report to me tomorrow morning and we will begin." I sighed. How would I tell him. "Yessir"

"At ease General. Report to your tent. Lights out is in 30 minutes"

I again silently nodded and trudged to the flap of the tent. I was bunking with Laf because lee was dead, Hamilton and John were home.

I was VERY excited to bunk with Laf. Him and I have been friends since we were children. And you'd think all these years I'd be able to tell him-

"Herc!! Mon Ami!! What a surprise! Can I help you?"

I winced when he slapped my back. Clearing time throught I noticed Burr was giving us a grimace from across the room. "How about a drink? I gotta talk"

Laf POV

"That sounds like a plan!" I grinned at herc as I grabbed my shoes and made my way back to him.

At ze club or whatever

Hercules seemed down. Not his usual outgoing self. "What is ze matter?" I think that's how the expression goes.

He looked at me in a way that made me blush. I remember when we were children, I had just moved to ze colonies and Hercules was the only one who talked to me. We have been ze best of friends since. To think. Almost 2 decades and I still have not expressed my feelings to him.

Hercules sighed and took a swig from his mug. Wiping his upper lip, he muttered, "i have some good news and some bad news" I didn't know what to say so I just nodded for him to continue.

"Well- earlier today, I was called into Washington's tent and he-" he paused "well the good news is, he offered me Lee's old position. He wants me to be a General and training starts tomorrow." I cheered.

"I'm so proud of you mom Ami!!" He smiled but then his face dropped again. What could be ze problem? He is a general.

"The bad news-" he continued, "is that I'm now the General." I was confused. "Zis iz ze same news, no?" I questioned.
