The first Saturday in May. Weather was incredible. 24° degrees to be exact. Perfect weather for our Year 10 disco. I'd been planning my outfit for weeks. I wore a skin tight, sporty grey leggings and matching V shaped crop top. My breasts were pushed together nicely and my flat stomach was on show for the whole world to see. For footwear, I put on my only pair of trainers, my grey and blue Reebok pair. I did a final hair check in the mirror. I'd gone for my hair tied up all in one with a side fringe. Satisfied that I couldn't do anything else with my looks, I grabbed my black Nike string bag and my navy blue jeans jacket, checked I had my bus pass and ran down the stairs.

"Maman j'i vais!" I informed my mum, sticking my head inside the living room.

"Okay, straight home. Okay?" My mom instructed laying down in our emerald green sofa.

"Yeah I know mum," I rolled my eyes and left house.

I looked at my watch. 6.30pm. The disco started at 7pm and finished at 9pm. And I had every intentions of making the best of it.

Sadness soon overcame me, when I realised Myah wouldn't be there. All the convincing in the world hadn't work. Myah wasn't much of a dancer. I, on the hand, loved to shake what my momma gave me. She'd made me promise to call her, once I got home, to fill her in with all the fashion faux pas and gossip. Finally on the 345 bus, I felt anxious because I wondered who would show up. Jaime, in particular. Maybe he'll ask me for a dance, I wondered to myself. I wonder what he'll wear. It was always fun to see people in their own clothes, other than their school uniforms. I was getting off in 2 stops. My heart started beating nervously. I looked down at my black Casio watch, 6.57pm. Perfect timing. I decided to stop by at CostCutters to get a KA Pineapple drink. I hadn't even taken 10 steps yet, when a Jamaican older man whistled at me. I felt violated walking past him because I could feel his eyes devouring my body. He was at least twice my age. Gross. The disco was being held at a community centre next to my favourite sweets shop, Jack's. I could hear the loud base and music already. An indication that I was heading in the right direction.

Walking inside the community centre, I felt all eyes on me. Quickly, I scanned the room to see if there was anyone I could hang out with. I spotted Jada King in the corner talking to Liam Clement. Those two were inseparable. Always together. Liam was such a gossip, always listening in on people's conversations. Taking a deep breath, I walk on over to them.

"What's up guys?" I asked bumping my head to Justin Timberlake's Cry Me A River.

"Hey Sierra!" They both chimed in union.

We had to speak in each other's ears, whenever we wanted to talk because we were standing right by a massive speaker, which made it almost impossible to have a conversation. I decided to go and grab a drink by the entrance. I just needed an excuse to scan the room again to see if Jaime was here. Negative. I was a little disappointed.

Almost an hour later and my favourite song Boo! By Ms Dynamite vibrated through the enormous speakers. Holding my plastic cup in the air, I manoeuvred my way into the middle of the crowd and started dancing and singing word for word the lyrics to the song. I was having such a good time at the disco, that I hadn't even noticed Jaime, in the corner, watching me intensively. He was with Romero Bryant. Jaime looked so handsome. I quickly scanned his outfit. He'd worn dark blue baggy jeans, black Nike Airforces, a black top and dark blue jeans jacket to match. H.O.T. The top of his hair looked curlier than usual, almost as if still wet from his shower. I smiled and danced on over to him.

"Hey," Jaime almost whispered.

"Can't hear you," I signalled to him, cupping my hands on my ears, still dancing.

Jaime walked over to me, placed his left hand on my right shoulder and whispered.

"I said, hey. Looking good. Mmm hmm mmm." Now I was pretty sure he hadn't said that the first time around but who cared.

"You like?" I replied back into his ears jokingly.

"You know I do," Jaime whispered in my ears, now coming extremely close to me.

His hands, were somehow, wondering and now resting on my bum.

"Oi! Behave yourself J," I pulled back poking his belly.

"What? What did I do? My hands have a mind of their own," Jaime answered back laughing, pulling me back towards him.

I couldn't help but to laugh at his silliness. I was glad he was here. We continued chit chatting back and forth till the slow jams came rushing through, an indication that the disco was almost over. We danced to a few classic slow jams. Holding each other and rocking back and forth. Aaliyah's One In A Million, Ginuwine's Differences and Usher's U Got It Bad, were the last 3 songs for the night. It'd been the perfect night. Jaime had been such a gentleman and walked me to the bus stop and even waited until I got into the bus to leave. I quickly, went to the top deck and looked down at Jaime waving and throwing him virtual kisses. I sat down and smiled. I was definitely falling for Jaime. I couldn't wait to get home to tell Myah all about tonight's antics.
