Carl couldn't believe she was gone, couldn't believe she would do that to him. Make her fall in love, build a life with him, and then just take it all away. He kept going over every detail of their relationship, trying to find a sliver of explanation for what happened. What went wrong. How could he have maybe seen clues.

He tried going back to the beginning. Maybe one of her friends knew where she was. He sat at the diner where he met her and looked for Marje. One of the other waitresses came over,

"Marje is gone you know, well not gone she just opened a new restaurant downtown. Living her dream. You know your wife really helped her out with that." Said the waitress,

"What?"

"Yeah, she said, Marje, I've done something bad so I need to do something good. Take this money and go buy a restaurant." Said the waitress, "One of a kind wasn't she. Did she cheat on you or something?"

"She left me."

"Dinner is on the house then." Said the waitress before walking away. It would take a lot more than a dinner on the house to ease the pain in his heart. It was like she had taken up so much room in his life that when she left there was this void. A void he would willingly fall into.

He couldn't write. He couldn't show his face at work he was so ashamed. He was sitting in his father's office getting yelled at,

"Do you realize that for the past month a criminal has been in our lives?" He said, the vein in his neck popping out like it always did when he was angry.

"Yep."

"She's cleaned out the family vault and do you know what else she took?"

"Nope."

"The elder wand, Merlin, she could be working with Grindelwald. She also took out a mortage on your house, 800, 000 muggle dollars. Do you know what you've cost us by rushing into marriage with that American?" He asked,

"Yep."

"We are going to go after her, okay put her blonde arse in Azkaban." Said Mr Spencer-Moon,

"No we won't," said Carl, setting the file on the table, "Unless you want mom to know you've been sleeping with a woman named Crystal for the last ten years. Or that you bought votes. Or if you want the public to know that you stole the campaign platform from Uncle Joshua,"

The minister opened the folder and raised his eyebrows, he looked at his son and then back down again,

"What are you going to do?" He asked, he looked to his heart broken son,

"Nothing. I am going to do absolutely nothing. Just like you." Said Carl, "Because without her, there really is nothing left."

"It was all fake, son." Said the minister, "She played us. She's a con artist. A con artist. A trained criminal. A criminal. Who committed the perfect crime." His eyes went wide, "A young, criminal. Trained."

"What is it?" Asked Carl,

"She has a brother, correct?" Asked the minister, going through his desk,

"Yes. What are you doing," he asked,

"A while back I asked a crime family to take care of a German bank for us." He said, pulling out a file, "The Marigolds and the Burlingtons worked on it and well they tipped the scales of a war. A whole war."

"You What?"

"I don't know their names, but I do know the composition of each family. The Marigolds had a girl and a boy. The girl should be about eighteen now." Said the minister,
