I didn’t exactly plan on getting drunk, it just sort of happened.
It started as soon as we got to the club. I had expected it to be exclusive and filled with cameras, ladies wearing cocktail dresses and drinking expensive looking champagne, men from fashion magazines scoping the area.
It was nothing like that. The first sight I was met with was a group of skanky looking teenage girls wearing low cut dresses and smoking cigarettes. When their eyes caught One Direction, their faces lit up.
“Oh my God, they are actually here!!” I heard one of them yell between puffs on her cigarette. “So that bitch from twitter actually was telling the truth!”
As soon as I heard her screechy high pitched voice, I wanted out. I knew exactly what kind of night this would turn into. It would involve girls in very short dresses and caked on make-up flirting their asses off with the boys, whilst getting extremely drunk and making idiots out of themselves, all the while leaving me standing in the corner looking awkward.
I guess that was the moment I told myself that I would have to get extremely drunk in order to have any kind of fun, to fit in. I already had the short dress and make up part done, now I just needed to make an idiot out of myself.
We were easily able to cut to the front of the line and wander inside, with the security guardslingering on me a little longer than the others.
“Don’t worry, she’s with us.” Niall had shouted over the music, placing an arm around my waist as we were granted entry. We were immediately ushered to our own roped off area, the whole thing seeming very formal for such an informal club.
The eight of us were seated at a table in the middle of the roped off area, with the club goers already making their way over as fast as humanly possible.
“Hey Harry! HARRY! Oh my God that’s actually Harry Styles!”
“Hey boys! What’s up, let’s have a dance!”
“OH MY GOD ONE DIRECTION IS HERE!”
"Get it my fucking pants NOW STYLES!!!"
That was the majority of what I could here over the music, so any conversations I might have had would literally go unheard. Sighing, I took a drink from the waiters who had randomly appeared at our table and sculled it down, not even caring what it was.
“Whoa, she’s definitely coming out of her shell now.” Zayn smiled, throwing an arm around me and handing me a shot glass before filling it for me. He did the same to his own, then filled up six more.
“That’s four shots each, reckon you can handle it?” He asked me cheekily, and I shoved him briefly.
“Better than you can.” I exclaimed, drinking the first quickly and moving onto the next. He followed my lead, never breaking eye contact with me, which was getting annoyingly more of an attractive trait the drunker I got. After my fourth, my mouth was burning and my thinking was a little foggy.
“Zayn, you trying to kill her?” Liam asked, looking a little concerned at the sight of me. “We’ve gotta look after her, remember? That doesn’t involve getting her blind drunk.”
“Why do you have to look after me?” I slurred out, having already given up caring about what people thought of me. “I’m eighteen; I’m the same age as you guys. Chill ya grill.” I reached over and patted Liam on the shoulder, who smiled and shrugged.
“Just remember your grandad is trusting us with you tonight okay? Stay safe.” He ordered, a bit of a cheeky glint in his eye. I was a little confused as to why he was so concerned, but I brushed it off because I thought it was nice that someone was caring about me so much.
“She’ll be fineeeee!” Zayn exclaimed, pulling me into a side hug. I wasn’t sure about all this contact I was getting, especially seeing as the girls who had now poured outside the roped off area we were in were getting louder and louder.
“Well, I’m gonna go talk to that woman in the red dress, excuse me.” Harry mumbled, drink in hand as he winked at the rest of us and made his way over to the barrier, with the screams now getting progressively noisier.
I was steadily getting drunker and drunker. We tried to have a few conversations at the table, but it really was difficult given the noise surrounding us. Eventually, Liam and Danielle left the VIP area to find the dance floor, with Louis and Eleanor following their lead. That was when Zayn turned to me, matching my level of drunkenness which was kind of hard to believe.
“Let’s dance.” He whispered in my ear, with his lips brushing against it lightly. I felt a slight jolt of electricity rush through me as he tightened his grip around my waist.
At this point, it was only Zayn, Niall and I left at the table. I quickly glanced up to see Niall having a conversation with some girls who had been let into the VIP area with us, his body extremely close to one particular girl in blue. I had no idea why, but it pissed me off. In fact it kind of hurt a little bit, even though I know it shouldn’t have.
“You go, I’ll meet you in a bit.” I whispered back, trying to sound seductive but most likely failing. He smiled back at me, his stare flicking from my eyes to my lips, before he briefly planted a small kiss on my check. It lingered a little longer than I expected, so I pulled myself up and gave him one last glance before heading over to Niall.
“Elli!” He grinned, pulling me down onto the couch. I was definitely drunk now, I didn’t even care that I fell on top of him in my heels. Or maybe I wanted that to happen, I’m really not sure.
“Hey babe.” I winked at him, trying to pass off my actions as a joke. Oh, I was definitely not joking.
He pulled me onto his lap and wrapped his arms around my waist. He was drunk too then.
“This is Katie. She was on X Factor with us.” He pointed to the girl in the blue dress, who had instantly pressed herself as close as she could to Niall, a look of complete distaste shot in my direction.
“Of course, you wouldn’t know that would you, she hates One Direction.” Niall slurred out in laughter, tightening his arms around me. Jesus Christ, I just wanted to kiss him so badly.
“I do not hate you guys!! You guys are beautiful!” I laughed, and I felt Niall’s blonde hair pressed against my neck as he giggled at me.
The girl in blue smirked at the sight of me, crossing her arms. “Is she your kid sister or something?” She asked, looking thoroughly pissed off at my arrival.
I snorted. “Yep, I’m secretly thirteen. Gigs up Niall, I better get the fuck out of here before someone catches me.” I laughed, and pretended I was going to leave by unclasping his arms from around my waist and standing up.
“No don’t go!” Niall called out to me, and just as I turned around to clamber back onto his lap and maybe, just maybe kiss him, Katie had thrown her entire body on top of Niall and kissed him more passionately than I had ever seen a person do before.
I didn’t wait around to see what would happen. I quickly turned around, walked as fast as I could in my heels to the dance floor in search of Zayn.
