Two bodies one soul. Separated by walls. Walls of ideologies, walls of misunderstandings, walls baring communication, walls of distrust, walls of traumas, walls of responsibilities and above all walls of secrets.

Swarnima could not believe she just 'broke up' with her one and only. She had just asked him to erase the memories that tied them together.

Abhedya was still sitting on the bench in the girls green room. He could not believe Swarnima asked him to forget the past. Was she right that it was him who was holding on to things? Has she moved on? Does their past not haunt her as it did to him. For him, the sweetest memories were what he shared with her. He closed his eyes as he did always when he was sad or broken. That one smile that brought him peace was all he needed to be back to normal again. But this time the little Swarnima was replaced by the older one. Smiling sweetly at him. A smile formed on Abhedya's face automatically visualising the crinkle in her eyes. The one thing that was common in his Sona and the girl she was now was that smile that could light up a thousand lamps.
He was now sure of one thing, no matter what happens, he cannot let go of Swarnima from his life, 'this time'.
They may not be lovers, they may not become friends, they may not be tied as a ruler and protector but if she is in his life, his life is worth living and he will make sure to make her life happy. He was chalking out his plan of action when Swarnima came out of the washroom after changing her clothes and saw Abhedya still sitting there. She knew she had hurt him just as much as she was hurt.

She went and asked him, "Hey, you haven't changed."

Abhedya came out of his thoughts and replied, "how do you expect a dead man to walk."

Swarnima put her hand on his mouth and stopped him from saying anything further. Hurt, worry, guilt written all over her face.
"Please don't say that!" Swarnima could not bear the thought of it.

Feelings: check
Expressions: check
Abhedya ticked his checklist.

"What else do you expect me to say. You just asked me to kill the sweetest and fondest memories I have." Abhedya expressed in an even more dramatic tone with his head hung low.

Swarnima sat on her knees in front of him and in a very sorry tone of explained, " I am so, so sorry. I didn't mean to say all that. You wanted to be free and I just didn't want you to be hooked and feel burdened. I never... ever expected you to anyways fulfil the commitments made as kids. It's been a long and I know everything has changed.  Everyone has the right to decide what they want and I did not want to take away your freedom. I am so, so sorry."

Abhedya was touched by her confession. She was extremely innocent, naive and stupid at the same time. He was just looking at her while she was apologising. It was not an apology out of force but from the heart.

On not receiving any response from Abhedya, Swarnima got up and said, "you can punish me. I am ready for any sort of punishment. But please don't be sad."

'Damn you Abhey' stop teasing the poor girl. It should be you who should apologise not her'. A pained heart of Abhedya scolded him.
'I know. But at least she is emoting different emotions.' His brain justified his actions.
'Enough now! apologise to her now' his heart ordered.

"It's okay! I guess I was at fault too. I have hurt you enough with my words and actions. You were right it was me who was dragging the past and messing up the present. So, let's sign a peace treaty by..." Abhedya was about to suggest a peace pact when there was a knock on the door.

"Oh no!! You shouldn't be here."  Swarnima knew what the presence of a boy in a girls green room with a girl means. She pulled Abhedya and hid him behind the door and peeped through the door.
