Metroid: Extinction

The Plan.

The galactic federation council was in session and the representatives of all the individual species that made up the federation were present for an important hearing. Admiral Dane stood on a pedestal in the Centre of the round room with a hologram infront of him displayed to the council. Making her way up to the pedestal was the bounty hunter Samus Aran! Her dark green jacket and grey jeans instantly made her stand out from the rest of the people around her in suits and other appropriate clothing. But she wasn't apart of the federation so she didn't care what they thought .

- "To the galactic federation council I present Samus Aran, Bounty hunter and former soldier in the military. I can confidently vouch for her expertise on this grave matter and I wholeheartedly believe she is the most capable person for the job. Samus Aran once completed a mission at my request 2 years ago to infiltrate a space pirate base on the planet Zebes and eliminate the metroid presence there." Admiral Dane proclaimed proudly to the council. Samus walked up to a microphone and spoke.

"I was enjoying a nice long break before I was called here without any information as to the purpose and urgency of my presence here but I feel like I can put the pieces together and figure out why I'm here. " she looks up at the hologram "More metroids am I right?"

"Not quite. There are some important details you are unaware of" a representative of the Elvin species stated as they stood up.

A man walks over to the pedestal. He had jet black hair and narrow eyes and gave the impression of having a commanding masculine personality just by how he walked . He glanced at Samus as he walked past her and her heart sank when she recognised who he was.

"Members of this council and... bounty hunter, the details of Operation M are as follows. The Infiltration of Zebes was certainly an outstanding success and amazed all of us however there was one consequence as a result" he turns to face Samus. "The space pirates transported a number of metroids off the planet and used them in several attacks on civilised worlds in the months afterwards. The attacks also resulted in dozens of pirate casualties but the point remains that civilian lives were taken by metroids . Since then a number of covert federation missions targeted space pirate bases on neighbouring systems and with heavy resistance they succeeded in destroying pirate facilities housing metroids. Without mother brain the pirates were unable to duplicate the creatures but that is the one sole reason we successfully wiped out the remaining batches"

"Look I didn't know they retrieved specimens from Tourion I was too busy worrying about
my own life and trying to get off that planet to check every single frigate that was there. I blew up the main ship transporting them and I presumed that was the only shipment of metroids. If your asking me to deal with any that you missed than my answer is no, I barely escaped with my life when I last faced them and I have no intention of ever getting near those things again! I appreciate the danger of the situation But it's no longer my concern. It's up to the federation to deal with any remaining threats now . I have other matters to deal with , Adam, so if you'll excuse me I'll be on my way " Samus interrupted.

"Actually that's not the issue anymore. We wiped out all the remaining specimens but now we're planning to make sure the space pirates or anyone else will never get their hands on these wretches ever again " Admiral Dane added.

"What do you mean"? She folded her arms and eyed both him and Adam suspiciously.

"Commander Adam Malkovich has a plan for dealing with this crisis once and for all" a member of the council stated.

Adam faces the council while Admiral Dane looked at Samus nervously.

"Galactic federation council my plan and that of many others in my position is this . When the original metroid was first discovered on planet SR388 our scans revealed that the region it came from had been impacted by an earthquake which resulted in part of a cliff collapsing and revealing a hidden structure inside possibly of chozo origin. Last week a patrol ship was deployed to the area to investigate the chozo structure and our scans detected that this structure was the only place on SR388 where metroids were roaming. We don't know how but the entire population is literally trapped underground and we presume the earthquake that exposed the structure allowed them to be free again. Luckily so far the only metroid to resurface was the original one we found but this is where our fear is, if left undealt with the metroids could escape to the surface and repopulate the entire world. The space pirates would have an unlimited amount of them at their disposal. Our patrol ship was attacked by pirates right as our ground force encountered a metroid. The space pirates are now on SR388 and the fear is that they will bring the metroids up ground. Strangely yet very fortunately there only seems to be 40 metroids underground. If we kill all 40 of them before the pirates retrieve them we will never have to deal with this crisis ever again!" Adam proclaimed .

"You are delusional if you think I am going to go down there on my own and commit genocide . Like I said I barely escaped with my life last time I encountered them and that was only 17 of them. You tell me there's 40 here and that's all? Something is wrong because there is no way the entire metroid population is only made up of 40!!

"Your right Samus it is odd and I don't like it anymore than you do but Admiral Dane recommended you for this mission. From my experience with you and from what I heard I believe you could potentially wipe them out definitely this time!"

"I have to agree with Adam here , Samus I sent you to Zebes because your unmatched skill and
unique armour suit abilities gave you enormous opportunities over anyone else. Now you have an upgraded suit and I believe you can do this. I know this time it is not personal but think of the good you will be doing. I promise you if you do this for me I will make sure the galactic federation never calls upon you again for something. One last request from me please " Admiral Dane sighed.

"We have a troubled history together and I know you are uncomfortable being here especially around me but do this and as he said you won't have to deal with any of this ever again. You wear chozo armour and that gives you an advantage in exploring a chozo structure and what its connection to the metroids is. We lost several men on the planet because they weren't as prepared enough as someone like you. You will deal an even bigger blow to the space pirates if you kill every single last one of these creatures . You are also the logical choice for the mission since a full on assault would result in too many casualties. "

"What happened in the past I don't hold against you Adam but it's too painful to be here again. Unfortunately you are correct and I'm the only one suitable for this. I know you and everyone else in this room was disappointed when I left the federation military and so I guess this is my chance to give you all a reason to be proud even if that sounds childish. I already earned one form of redemption for myself so what's another I guess."

Everyone in the council applauded and stood up in respect as she turned her back and left the room.

"Now I'm going to get changed before I go"
