Descending down a long shaft Samus bounced off many tree branches and walked across the makeshift bridges entering numerous blue doors on her way down. Each one eventually led to a gamma metroid and by the time she reached the bottom of the shaft she had killed 8 gamma metroids!  There were now only 14 left and her determination was at its peak. At the bottom of the shaft a single red door led into an L shaped room. The ground had collapsed into a river far below and the only light in here were from insects with glowing orange chests. Using the grapple beam Samus swung across to the other side and then shinesparked up a vertical shaft . Blasting a red door open with a missile she entered an open forested area with plants of various types sprouting from the ground and the walls. Her movement was slowed as she walked through a white grass like material on the floor.

"Morphology: Tangle weed, indigenous plant species that ensnares smaller creatures for consumption. Tangle weeds are merely a nuisance to larger organisms."

Samus melted all of the tangle weeds away with the plasma beam and she stepped through the ashes she heard a faint growling from the plants above her.  Saliva dropped down and splattered against her gravity suit which she had never deactivated since the hydro station incident.  As she looked up a fearsome animal dropped down behind her and she swung around to face it . The creature was about 8 meters long and had a tough green coloured shell all down its body. The bottom of its body was brown making its long tail green and brown aswell as its head. The head was elongated and massive, stretching all the way to the middle of its spine! Seven claws lined the outside of its jaw and it had four distinct red eyes on either side of its head .  Two frontal curved claws and one claw on the heel lined all four of its slender limbs.  Before she even scanned it Samus knew what this freak of nature was.

"Morphology : Zeta Metroid.  The next step in metroid evolution , the zeta is considered a mature adult metroid and is superior to its predecessors in every way. Zetas move at vicious speeds and are ferocious predators which can ambush prey by attacking from high up places. Their limbs allow for easy manoeuvrability when scaling walls and ceilings and they prefer to attack from higher ground, however if necessary a zeta can easily stand its ground in melee combat and will tear through most victims with ease. Be advised this monster is tenfold as dangerous as its predecessors and is completely immune to ice . The creature can breathe fire aswell as ravage victims with its claws . It's tail can also be used as a whip.  Maximum firepower is recommended!"

"How many more times can you fuckers transform?"

The zeta crouched then dashed in a zig zag fashion toward Samus forcing her to backflip away from it, the creature grabbed her leg and threw her against the door she entered by. It spat fire right as she jumped to her feet and side stepped out of the way. She fired missiles at its jaws just like she had done with every other metroid however the zeta dipped its head allowing its sturdy shell to take the brunt of the impact.  The zeta ran toward the opposite door and crawled up the wall like a spider, spitting fire balls at Samus as she ducked and rolled toward it. She grabbed its tail with the grapple beam and dragged it to the ground . She fired missiles at it's now vulnerable sack however the creature ducked its head and the missiles exploded against its shell instead as it got to its feet . The creature once again sprinted at Samus but this time she screw attacked toward it and broke its jaw upon impact, sending the zeta backwards onto the ground allowing for a direct missile it to it's sack. It's sack exploded as it tried to get up and the creature slumped back down with a dying moan . Samus walked over to the corpse and shuddered.  The federation were lucky they sent her to wipe out the creatures. If they couldn't take care of the larvae they stood no chance against these metamorphoses.  Ironically there was also a case to be made that metroids became easier to kill as they matured since they became larger and lost the ability to fly . The once dreaded floating life suckers were now reptilian quadrupeds that actually eat their prey. Maybe these evolutions were responsible for the chozo dying out here? But that wouldn't make sense because if she could kill them why couldn't the chozo? It seemed like instead of trying to kill them the chozo simply sealed them underground in a temple ontop a canyon . Why?

"I really hope the 13 remaining metroids are all the same because I do not think I can handle any more changes." She groaned
