Metroid: Extinction

Chozo Laboratory

The elevator descended down into a building far far below,a crossroad  branched from all directions of the elevator. Black metallic triangle shaped halls with orange lighting in between pieces of metal was the primary source of lighting . The floor was made of a silver material with brown designs snaking all around it.

- Choosing to go down all the hallways one after another had led to different collapsed rooms where boulders had come through the ceiling. Samus had killed 9 Zeta metroids in a row and now there were only 4 metroids left in existence! The mission was nearly complete. The only hallway left to explore was the one that was behind her as she came down the elevator . At the end was a green shielded door which she blasted open with a super missile . Her jaw dropped upon seeing what lay beyond.

A vast overgrown area with broken walkways and support bars reaching up to the ceiling which had caved in long long ago. Rocks and metal littered the floor which itself was covered by red and green flowers and other types of plants. She was standing on a ledge that had a ladder which led down to a walkway . Each walkway led to a different door although not all of them were accessible.

"Scans identify this area as a laboratory of some sort. Estimated to be of chozo origin . The purpose of this lab is currently unknown and it appears to be full of drones which patrol the empty hallways.  Be advised "

Samus walked down the ladder and stepped onto the walkway which creaked under her weight.  A mushroom that was growing on the bridge began shaking and she instantly recognised it as a cap shroom. Stepping back she shot it and exploded , leaking a toxic gas into the air for a few seconds before dissipating .  Jumping over some rocks she made her way to a door which was blocked by metal.

"Analysis of this metal reveals it to be bendezium. A power bomb should destroy it"

With that Samus reluctantly layed a power bomb which not only destroyed the metal and opened the door but also killed all the plants in this first area and further destroying the support structures. She quickly hurried into the room and found a chozo statue inside with its hands outstretched and a rather large ball in it . As she approached it the ball moved and then jumped up, smashing through the statue as it landed back down.  The ball unravelled and revealed itself to be an animal! The creature was a light red with a green shell and two bright green eyes. It was only about two feet tall but it had five really sharp claws on either hand .

"Morphology: Arachnus . Solitary scavenger that can fold into a ball and charge into attackers at high speed. The arachnus seems to have been the inspiration for the creation of the morph ball."

Arachnus barrelled toward Samus and she jumped out of the way as it smacked off the wall  she hit its frontal body with a charged shot that apparently only went through its thick outer layer of flesh. Shooting it again with another charge beam put an end to its rampage. Arachnus left out a soft whine and fell softly onto its side. Something glowed in the corner of her Samus's eye and she turned to see a blue orb in the rubble of the chozo statue. She walked over to it and placed her hand on it, the orb disappeared quickly as blue waves traveled up her arm and then down her other arm before sinking into the arm cannon. The cannon changed shape and she could see her default beam had now changed.

"Annihilator beam acquired!. This beam is a combination of the power beam, ice beam, wave beam, plasma beam and diffusion beam. This new weapon is now your affinity weapon and has taken the place of all the others"

With that Samus eagerly left the room to find a target to test her new weapon on.  A drone spotted her and flew toward her as it readied a laser, a black and white shot flew from the arm cannon and blew the drone to pieces. Satisfied she continued on and jumped up to a walkway above and entered an orange door which now responded to the annihilator beam. Inside the room she found a long bridge with the husk of a zeta metroid on the far side.

"Shit, not again!" She groaned as a loud roar filled the room followed by thunderous footsteps as the latest abomination came out from behind a hole in the wall and stopped in the middle of the bridge.  This new beast was 13 feet tall and stood on bulky back legs while its arms were significantly smaller and were only big enough to walk on all fours for a short period of time. The rest of the signature marks of a metroid evolution lined its body. Green back , brown underside, 4 red eyes on each side  and claws on the outside of mouth. The sack on the stomachs of all metroids so far was no longer visible and was now covered by thick bulky flesh.

"Morphology: Omega metroid . The apex predator of SR388 this monster now has a durable fleshy wall covering it's sack and retains the ability to breathe fire. The creature can swipe victims with its powerful arms aswell as use them to walk. However the creature prefers to run on its two powerful back legs in an upright position.  Maximum firepower advised!"

Samus ran toward the omega metroid and it spat fireballs at her furiously which ducked and jumped over . She fired a charged shot which hit its neck and sent out a sonic boom that made the whole room rattle.  The metroid swiped upwards and knocked her backwards before attempting crush her with its jaws. She screw attacked into the creature, knocking it on its back . She jumped ontop of its stomach and fired multiple missiles at it's stomach one after another. She jumped and spun in the air as it tried to grab her , before hitting the stomach with one more missile , finally exposing the sack! One missile later and the metroid roared as its life faded away.

-After following another partially ruined walkway Samus entered another room with the same type of bridge. An omega Metroid jumped onto the bridge and spat a fireball at her , throwing her on her back. She went into morph ball and laid a power bomb which burnt the metroid but also made its stomach flesh wither away. One super missile later and the the second omega metroid slumped against the wall dead. 

-Eventually another walkway led to the third omega metroid and Samus entered the room with a fiery determination in her eyes to finish this once and for all! The metroid was waiting on the other side of the bridge and sprinted toward her . It hit her with its tail but before it could bite her she sent a charged shot into its mouth . Firing a super missile at its stomach she walked up to the creature and prepared to finish it off right as it grabbed her and slammed her against the floor repeatedly. Using the morph ball she escaped its grasp and emerged back on her feet ready to attack once again . The omega metroid jumped a few feet back and crouched down to the floor , protecting its vulnerable sack.  Samus fired a super missile at its jaw and broke all the claws and inner teeth.  She shinesparked across the room and grabbed onto the back of the metroid's head firing as many times as she could deep into the throat of the metroid. She jumped off as it fell to the floor causing the weakened bridge to break and fall diagonally down. Samus slid down the slope and grabbed onto the edge of the bottom of the bridge as the omega metroid slid off and fell through the ground and into a room below. Samus jumped down into the newly revealed room and stared at the carcass.  Now only one single metroid remained in existence! . She looked up and saw that this room was an observatory. She was standing at the edge of of a broken bridge . Infront of her was a projector that showcased this solar system .  SR388 and SR387 were the only two habitable planets in this system orbiting a red giant . The solar system in turn was orbiting a black hole a few light years nearby. There was a smaller terminal infront of her that had a hand scanner on it . She placed her hand on it and a hologram activated.
