Metroid: Extinction

The Death Of Samus Aran.

The forested area extended for many miles much like brinstar . Waterfalls provided sustenance for the dozens of plant species which in turn provided sustenance for the predators of this region. A pink , worm shaped creature with silver wing shaped legs dived into the water after a swarm of fish.  Samus journeyed around for an untold amount of time unsure of where to go next as there was no path to guide her.  A crimson hornotoad spat at her as she walked past but she kicked the animal away effortlessly, a shrikebat dived down from the ceiling but she blew it to pieces aswell.  Eventually she discovered a blue door sitting ontop a waterfall , and so she shinesparked diagonally up to it . She had stopped questioning the random placement of different colour shield doors a long time ago and welcomed its existence as a way to point her in the right direction.  

As she jogged across this plant covered room she stopped, feeling the presence of something nearby that was watching her. She turned to her left just in time to see a metallic figure come directly at her , a metal leg kicked her chest so hard she hit the wall on the other side of the room 5 meters away.  As she got to her feet,  Weavel again ran up to her and pinned her cannon to the wall as he extended his scythe !  The scythe jabbed right through the gravity suit and went about 4 inches into her chest. She panicked and yelled out in pain as weavel as twisted it to his right , further cutting away at the hole he had just made in the suit and twisting into her flesh. She could feel the blade scrape her ribs, putting immense pressure on them and blood spilled out from inside the zero suit. Her mouth filled up with blood which she spat out as she looked directly into the eyes of her enemy who was taking great pleasure in her suffering.

"I should have fucking killed you when I had the chance"

She screamed as he tried to push further into her , the gravity suit which provided the only barrier between her and death was now de materialising as her focus was lost . She was about to die!  A thud echoed throughout the room as a Zeta metroid made its presence none .  Both hunter's heads darted to the left, acknowledging the presence of this threat.

"Always there to help me when I need assistance " Samus hissed as weavel pulled the scythe from her chest and turned to face the metroid.  She was too weak to fight, holding the wound tightly she crawled across the room and managed to eventually get to her feet and open the other blue door with her paralyser pistol. Slightly crouched over she left her enemies to duke it out to death while she took her opportunity to escape.

The zeta metroid sprinted at weavel and he side flipped in the air, kicking one its eyes as it went past him.  He swiped at the back right ankle of the metroid and the creature spun around forcing him to jump over its tail. The metroid engulfed weavel in fire and without his visor he was forced to protect his face his arms as his body took the brunt of the heat . Quickly jumping into half turret form , weavel began to flank the metroid as his lower body belted it with rapid shots. The confused creature didn't know where to look and roared in frustration as it went to reach for the lower body. The upper half of weavel pounced onto the back of the creature and began stabbing all of its eyes with his scythe before the lower body could be damaged , the now blinded metroid howled and swung its arms at its back hopelessly trying to catch Weavel, while his other half constantly bombarded the creature . He leaped off its head and rejoined with his lower body , doing a 360 spin as the torso attached back to the rest of him. The metroid spat fire in all directions in panic as he stealthily crept around it before darting directly toward its abdomen and slicing the sack with one clean swipe. Weavel ignored the dying metroid as he made his way after Samus while the creature desperately tried to hold its burst sack together as pink blood puddled around it.

- Samus was high up in a tree covered by thick leaves with only enough visibility to see Weavel as he entered the room. This cave was a dead end! The river was the only way out but without the focus needed to keep her suit active she'd drown.  The slow clanking of his footsteps somehow seemed louder than the gushing of the water. He stopped several feet from the tree infront of him and examined the drops of human blood on the ground infront of him.  She had to act now! She had to get away from him right now otherwise she wouldn't be able to. And with that she made riskiest decision of her life, she jumped from the tree branch and landed behind Weavel but as she tried to run through the door he grabbed the back of her neck and flung her back against the tree! She got to her feet quickly but he grabbed her throat tightly and slammed her against the tree again, knocking the air from her lungs. Her face was already losing colour as his metal fist gripped her throat incredibly tight . He simply stared at her with hatred in his narrowed eyes as she flayed about, kicking him everywhere and slapping his arm with her hands. Her vision blurred and her strength faded as she lost the ability to breath .

It was right then that Weavel dropped her , and as she lay on her backside he extended his scythe and plunged it into her stomach! Blood flew from her mouth all over his exposed face and a sense of triumph crossed over him as he pulled the blade out of her. He stared at the blood on it for ages before eventually eventually looking back down at the blood soaked ground his rival now sat in. Unable to move and barely able to breathe , he felt pure euphoria at the sight of the mighty Samus Aran who had robbed him of his body and slaughtered so many of his kind, now defeated and dying . She was no longer the invincible bringer of death everyone feared. It was he who was now the bringer of death! He would be seen as a mighty warrior all across the galaxy and would get everything he could ever want. He didn't care about the space pirates anymore, for now he had proven himself superior by killing their enemy.

Samus turned her head, trying to keep her eyes open while clutching at both wounds in her body. As Weavel stepped toward her, ready to claim her soon to be severed head as a trophy, she summoned every last ounce of strength in her to partially stand up and throw herself into the river!  Weavel quickly gazed into the river in horror, his prize was gone! Sure she would most definitely die from blood loss and would drown but how could he be sure he'd find her body? Or that the fish wouldn't eat her first? He fell to his knees and began punching the river bank in rage. Like a child throwing a tantrum he lost all sense of awareness in that moment and thrashed around on the ground roaring as loud as possible. He then got to his feet and stared at the blood smeared scythe once again before turning around and running through the door.

The river current dragged Samus far far away , she remained under the water , unable to get to the surface and still unable to breathe. All she could do was stay conscious. All her strength had to be put into that one act . Eventually she hit a bunch of rocks and her feet touched the shallow bottom of the river. The river continued through the gaps in the rocks but she was too big.  Somehow she pulled herself to the river bank and crawled out before lying on her side. She was slowly regaining the ability to breathe but it didn't matter, she felt immense agony from the wound in her chest and was bleeding out from her stomach the mixture of water also causing it to sting more. She was barely even able to cry out .  Tears rolled down her cheeks as she realised that this would be how she died.  The full horror of the situation then came to her, not only was she going to die, she was going to die alone. Alone on an alien planet where no one would ever find her. The federation would think the metroids killed her, the space pirates would find a way to save the species from extinction and Weavel would become the most feared bounty hunter in the galaxy. Taking a blood soaked hand she wiped the tears from her eyes and spotted a spiked plant 2 meters from her. She had seen this before when she was a child on Zebes! This plant was found on numerous different planets and she had been warned as a child not to eat it. That it produced a yellowish slime that would harden and block the throat of anyone who ate it. A daring idea crossed her mind and she dragged herself toward the plant. A spaak bush! She finally remembered the name. Avoiding the thorn covered leaves she reached into the center and plucked a berry from it.

Bringing it close to her stomach she squeezed it and it burst it's yellow slime all over her hand. She wasted no time and began rubbing the slime over the wound on her stomach, she screamed as it stung her but was relieved when she felt it harden and form a protective layer over the wound. She had stopped the bleeding! It actually worked! Of course it wouldn't matter if the scythe had punctured any vital arteries or organs but she didn't think it did. 

Quickly grabbing a second berry from the spaak bush she brought it up to her chest and for the first time she could see the extent of the damage. Her left breast was torn , with the gash stopping just short of her nipple. The main wound was in the middle of her cleavage and she rubbed the slime over it and over her mutilated breast. Ironically this slime did a better job at sealing injuries than any type of stitches ever could. 

With the wounds sealed up and the blood flow stopped Samus lay there on her back feeling drowsy , dizzy and without energy. She wanted to rest but she feared being eaten by a predator  or potentially never waking up. But she felt at ease knowing she had conquered death once again.  She had survived severe brain damage , on Zebes and still managed to destroy an entire frigate. Now here she was after surviving two very serious stab wounds . 

As she layed her head back she noticed something. Turning hear around she saw that it was an elevator ! 

"Why is there an elevator down here?"
She thought as she slowly sat up and took a deep breath. After a few moments she felt ok to continue on and so she managed to steady herself and the varia suit materialised around her. She wouldn't need the gravity suit much from this point on she felt. She walked over to the elevator slowly

"Time to find out"
