Metroid: Extinction

The Torizo.

Despite being decrepit and ancient the facility still seemed partially operational.  Large pumps hammered into the ground and small robots took equipment to and from different pumps.  This semi circular room was brownish in colour and showed signs of heavy withering along the cracked walls. There were 15 pumps in total and they connected from the ceiling to the stone floor.   Samus stood in the Center of the room and laid a power bomb, obliterating the robots and the pumps but also blasting the floor apart , revealing a shaft that stretched down several meters . The shaft had been created by the pumps that went into the ground , as if they were mining for something. Perhaps the chozo were using this facility as a mining station of some sort? .

Looking around the bottom of the shaft she was surprised to see that there was no ore or any other remarkable material . Apart from normal rock the only other type of stone that was down here was a dark green slab with several red lines stretching from the centre out to the edges.  There were tons of these slabs mixed in with the walls and the ground

"Scan results are inconclusive. Slabs appear to be fossils of some sort dating back only 200 years. Slabs do not contain any bones or traces of skin yet the chemical nature suggests these slabs were once a unique life form to this planet ."

Samus left the shaft and ascended to the ceiling with the spider ball, following the pumps back to their source .  Exiting out of a shaft for the robots to fly up though, she found herself in a massive storage area filled with racks of containers with the same dark slabs inside them. The chozo were collecting these "fossils".

She barely reached a wide opening when suddenly the ceiling opened up and a chozo statue descended to the floor!  The back of the statue opened up and two rods extended outwards . The statues eyes lit up blue and the rods ignited as propellant for the statue to rise up into the air .

"Morphology: Torizo. Chozo robot designed to safe guard this storage area from anyone who would attempt to steal the contents of these containers .  The torizo is able to fly and launch missiles from its "wings "  aswell as fire a plasma beam from its eyes.  The torizos weakness is its jet pack and its abdomen which contains its power cell."

The torizo hovered briefly before flying straight past Samus , attempting to punch her as it did so.  She ducked under its arm and fired a super missile in retaliation.  The torizo raised its arms infront of its face and a force field destroyed the projectile.  One plasma laser hit Samus in the back of her neck , her energy tanks taking damage as the plasma burned through them. As the torizo flew at her again she screw attacked toward it but it generated a force field which repelled her . As she fell she attached the grapple beam to the torizos legs but it flew toward a rack and she slammed into it , knocking over a dozen containers . The torizo turned and fired 3 missiles which impacted right as Samus got up . The explosions sent her backwards and numerous fossils were scattered across and around her.  She immediately shinesparked toward the torizo and kicked it in the head , it crashed on its back and she rolled off and pummelled the jet pack to pieces with 2 super missiles as it got back up .  Now the fight would be more fair! The torizo fired two plasma lasers but both missed their target and charred the floor instead. Samus jumped forward and with one knee on the floor and the other leg bent she switched to the extra ray visor and targeted the power cell with a single wave beam shot. A small electrical burst destroyed the robot and it fell to the floor in pieces . The power cell rolled out of its broken body and came to a stop when she stood on it.  Samus looked around and found a white door as the nearest exit. With her trusty ice beam she exited the storage and walked down a broken staircase which was flooded. Water from a crack in the wall high up had filled the stairs and went down with it.  Chozo head busts lined parts of either wall on the way down and their eyes glowed as the only light source . At the bottom of the stairs numerous broken robots were scattered  . Judging by the sparks they were recently destroyed . She could hear space pirate chatter coming from around a corner up ahead . She clenched her first as she walked toward the sound. It wasn't enough that they desecrated her home on Zebes , they were now here destroying the last remnants of a once proud civilisation.  Jumping into sight she fired 7 missiles and killed a bruiser and 4 regular armoured pirates. 2 ablative armoured pirates survived and one threw a grenade but Samus caught it and threw it back, killing one of the them and gravely wounding the other . She walked over the survivor who only had one arm and half a leg left.  The pirate shouted at her in its language as she picked him up and slammed his head against the wall. She yelled then punched directly into the pirate's face with her cannon, pulverising and staining its blood all over the walls, tossing the mangled carcass aside she walked onwards down the hall .

Eventually she walked directly into the line of sight of a gamma metroid that was feeding on a decayed animal . The gamma looked up and shrieked as Samus blew its face up with a missile .

Only 24 metroids left alive on this planet!
