Metroid: Extinction

The Pirate Base

Drones flew over head scanning the surrounding area for intruders while skiffs carried new troops to the base. Samus watched from behind a stack of boxes . This entire cave had been converted into a base by the pirates and they had placed turrets around the perimeter on all sides . It was by no means large, just big enough to hold small numbers of troops and containers aswell as a landing platform for ARC transports. Samus turned into morph ball and crept into a shaft under the metallic floor.  She navigated herself around and reached the other side of the base where a turret was stationed. Emerging from morph ball she shot the unarmored milita that was strolling past . She was lucky he was unarmored otherwise it would have been a messy kill that would alert everyone nearby.. 

Suddenly an alarm triggered from one of the drones and a roar echoed throughout the base as the drone was flung to the ground . The pirates gathered together and began focusing fire on a single target, a Zeta metroid! The creature jumped onto a commando and ripped him to shreds with its claws , easily breaking through the armour. Armoured pirates of all kinds fired from all sides and the zeta spun , knocking them all down with its tail before roasting them with its fire. Samus quickly hopped into turret seat and the bottom opened up and stretched , raising the turret into a high position.  One turret fired a green blast that knocked the metroid on it's side but it quickly got to its feet before it could be further targeted. It jumped onto the turret and bite right through both cannons . It ripped the turret off its hinges with its operator still inside and threw the turret at a group of pirates that were fleeing. It further smashed and exploded upon hitting them and the metroid remained with its back to its attackers. Samus activated the turret and the two cannons fired the same green blasts at two nearby turrets . With them destroyed she began firing upon the scattered pirates . The zeta spat a fireball and she jumped out of the turret right as it exploded.  The pirates were now fleeing in all directions running from the two most deadliest forces they would ever come across. Two arc transports rose into the air and one fired a powerful laser that threw the metroid off the turret remains and onto the ground. It began running away as the other transport fired purple torpedos that destroyed large sections of the base as the metroid evaded them.  Samus dropped a power bomb that devastated the surviving ground troops and the remainders of the base. One of the transports spun out of control and blew up the other with the laser as it crashed and exploded.

Fire and smoke filled the cave and Samus was standing in the center of it all as the metroid crept up silently behind her. As it went to bite her head she spun around and delivered a missile into its mouth which exploded and tore through the back of its head and the entire upper half of its skull. The creature fell flat on the ground and samus wiped its pink blood from her visor . She laughed to herself at how ironically helpful the space pirates had been. They had either killed metroids or served as a distraction while she killed them all. Without the pirates she would probably have been killed or else still searching for metroids. Instead she simply had to follow the blood curdling screams or the explosions in the distance anytime she heard them. 

"How hilarious is it that the space pirates came here to capture metroids before I killed them all yet instead they themselves killed several of them and reduced the numbers drastically by themselves. I honestly should be thanking the pirates for making my job easier " she thought as she chuckled and made her way through the flames.
